Hi all,

My 2 year GC was issued in February 2018 so I applied to lift condition in December 2019.  Biometrics done in January, interview pending since end of March 2020.  Filed for Naturalization in February 2021, biometrics waived.

I got the letter saying my GC was extended for 18 months, but since that was now 17 months ago, and I still haven't had an interview, I'm a bit concerned as to what to do.  I tried to call and they said I needed to book an appointment within 30 days of that 18 months expiring, but every time I call the damn automated system roots me out.  Any advice?  How did people deal with this?  They told me it would be a stamp in my passport.  Did anyone have an employer take issue with the stamp as proof of permanent residency?

I am also based in Chicago, in similar situation. My I751 is Ready to be schedule an interview for an interview for 13 months now. My I797 extension letter is expiring this week. While I remain in status until adjudication. This means I cannot travel outside the country or drive as my IL driver's license is also expiring and cannot renew.

I called to make an infopass appointment to get a I-551 stamp but now they take 20-30 days for the Immigration Officer to call you back. I hope there are appointments available at the Chicago office to at least obtain a stamp.

How do you get to the real agent? I can't get through the auto answer machine.

I called the toll free number below. After 30-40 minute of wait, someone will pick up and take your information. Then you are placed in the line to have an immigration officer call you back in 20-30 days.

Our toll free number is 800-375-5283 (TTY 800-767-1833) and our hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm Eastern.

I called that same number, it put me through auto voice system. What exactly did you do to get to someone? Did you press any button/say any command to get to that or you just called that number, and it auto put you in wait for real person?

so, everyone from December 2019 case should be having about 30 days left on your 797C form.

How are you guys coping up? what steps are you taking?

Can we simply remain in country to hear back from USCIS? Technically the GreenCard itself is expired. The 797c paper that extended the validity of Green Card is expiring. So does that make us illegal aliens all of a sudden?

No, your Leagal Perminate Residency status remines in effect your immgration status does not change only proof of your continued LPR status expires. If you are not doing anything that requires proof of your continued LPR status like travel out of USA, getting a new job, or renewing a drivers license you don't have to do anything. USCIS and ICE know you have a pending i751 and you are still in status with a active LPR.

You can make an info pass appointment with USCIS to get a i551 stamp in your passport for proof of your LPR status so you can travel out of the USA, have proof for new job, or Proof for renewing a drivers license.

Do not depart the USA with expired green card and expired exetention letter you will not be able to reenter the USA.

After coming close to an expiring extension letter, USCIS finally updated my status with “new card is being produced”.  We didn’t have an interview, which comes as no surprise as I adjusted status from K1, and we were interviewed for I-485 already.
While I’m relieved that I will not have to go through the hassle of trying to get an Infopass appointment and a stamp in my passport, I’m also a little disappointed as my application for naturalization has also been pending for almost 8 months, and I was hoping that USCIS would move on both applications at the same time.  Oh well.  Hopefully, N400 interview and then oath will be right around the corner.
Good luck and speedy approval to all of you and your loved ones!  I cannot wait to be done with USCIS for good!

Same with me. Just got a notification that "New card is being produced". No appointment, no approval notification.

I just received notification that my case has been scheduled for interview. Does anyone know about how much notice I will get for the interview? (Once I receive letter, about how long until appointment). My interview will be in a city that requires quarantine for anyone visiting from my state (the state next door), so I am trying to figure out travel plans.
