hi,

i am absolutely new to this website, so i have no idea where to post this cause i'm kind of a rarer case ;)

im an international student and have been in the US for 7 years. my I-20 will expire July 1st but since i haven't completed my studies i was hoping for an extention. now i'm kind of nervous cause i haven't heard back from school yet. NOW: my BF is in jail for DUI and will get out july 2nd (talking about bad timing :( . we wanna get married. if the school doesn't give me an extension on my student visa i'll have 2 weeks from july 1st to leave. what to do? could we still get married withing these 2 weeks, and would that be considered legal? or is it better that i return to my country and apply for a fiancee visa? any advice???

thank you very much!

A quickie marriage just before your visa runs out smells like visa fraud. Marrying someone who may have a drinking problem and one or more DUIs is also not helpful.
loooooord, so what to do? so we can't get married cause he got DUIs?

DUI's? Multiple offenses? Are you sure you can't do better than that?

Get married and file for adjustment of status as soon as possible.

When you marry a U.S. citizen, all overstays and other minor visa violations

are automatically forgiven, so it doesn't really matter when you do it.

Obviously, the sooner you do it the better, because you don't want to be

out of status any longer than necessary.
