I currently reside in Canada and got married in my home country this year. I added my wife to my Green Card application and we submitted DS-260 forms together.
(It is important to note that she can't visit Canada till she goes through the process of acquiring Canadian permanent residence and Canada won't issue a visit visa during that time.)

NVC set both our interviews at the Montreal Canada consulate (which they shouldn't have since I can give interview in both countries but she has no status in Canada as evident by her current address and the documents we submitted). We didn't find out till we received the interview letter the it was set for Montreal, Canada.

We sent a letter to NVC requesting them to schedule her interview in the home country - No response from them.
A month later I called NVC and an agent told me that I need to give my application for transfer request to the Montreal consulate.

I showed up for my immigrant visa interview, they issued the visa for me. I gave the Consulate officer a written application requesting the transfer of my wife's immigrant visa interview to our home country. They took it to the back and came back saying that I need to send the application to the US Embassy in my home country.

I've sent a written application with both our signatures to the US embassy in our home country. The standard response time on their website is listed as 5 days. It's been a few weeks and no response. I am wondering if there is even anything happening regarding our application or if it simply has been ignored.

When I call NVC now, they basically say that it is out of their hands, it's between the Embassies now and NVC can't take any further action.

(A couple of US consulate do have the the procedures for requesting interview transfer but sadly not the one in my home country e.g. for Japan: https://jp.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/case-transfer-request/)

Can anyone provide some advice? Do I simply wait? Is there anything I can do? Any chance that the Embassy might simply ignore my letter and my wife's interview is now basically dead in the water?

(I do have an immigration attorney but they haven't been above to provide any path forward apart from the initial application to the NVC requesting to change the country for the interview.)

Any knowledgeable advice would be much appreciated.
