The thing is that it is just memorizing, I wanted to have context, to really understand it, not just to memorize.

you are asking about american history for a american government test

any documentary on Civil War or world war I or II or the american revolution and civil rites movement will give you good info

but most movies cover a very small and i mean very small part of our history and you cant count on the reality like Tora Tora Tora covers the bombing of Pearl Harbor and Midway covers the battle that changed the war in the Pacific but both of these are a small part of our history

Ken Burns on PBS does a series of documentaries that are the most historical correct including "The Dust Bowl"  and westward migration and the "California Gold Rush"

Still what you need to know is a matter of memorization of the government like each state has 2 elected HOuse of Reps and how long they serve and who are your state senators and your area rep

the test is not about american history

most people here could not tell you how the statue of Liberty torch was cracked / BTW it was cracked when the Germans blew up Black Tom island where ammunitions were stored to send to England and France July 1916 World War I / the whole island disappeared

Second Ken Burns, I am always amazed about how little US Citizens know about their own history.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
