History movies for learning for civics test

Are there any movies that are historically accurate enough that could be watched that can help with the history part? Of course it is a fiction and somebody's vision, but some are more truthful than others. Family movie night could become educational. Specifically about the writing of the declaration of independence and events surrounding mid 18th century.

The Patriot (2000): nothing more authentic then an Australian playing an American patriot during the Revolutionary War.

Movies really can't make up for historical accuracy of reading material or seeing living museums with your own eyes. I'd suggest a trip down to Colonial Williamsburg (stay at least a couple days), DC, or historical Philly sometime. 

John Adams was a good HBO production about early presidents and the revolutionary war. They got the tone right and didn't skimp in accuracy. Just avoid such movies such as Revolution (1985), that featured Al Pacino in all his glory takin' it to the man Scarface accent style..." Hooohaaa".

 

I love historical/costume dramas, but I want to ragequit and toss my tv out a window by the sheer number of so many bad ones.

I can more easily ignore bad acting than a fake story line.

Well, they were in Tora Tora Tora, just not doing very well in it.

Well they kept the Carriers and the Oil Farm. Might go and see Midway but the clips I have seen look more like a game.

I found the best thing was making physical flash cards for my wife.

Quicker to read the guide than watch a movie. 
I did find my daughter’s obsession with playing Hamilton repeatedly a couple years back helped with revolutionary era stuff.

I agree.  My wife had two books and she had the answers in one, she reviewed those multiple times a day and I quizzed her repeatedly a few weeks prior to the interview.

our county library offered a FREE course that lasted 5 weeks one night a week to help with the test!
