Not sure where it did, but I had to do it. We used Boundless to compile the paperwork and have an attorney check it.

Seeing as I’m still living in the 3rd country, it was kinda painless. I was led to believe that if I were no longer here the process would have been a more drawn ordeal.

Good luck 🍀

Thank you for the best wishes. You are lucky your lawyer acted in advance. Ours only told us I needed those clearances from two far away countries only after uploading the ds 260.

Hi do you know if translations can be like they were for USCIS? That the translator just signs something saying they know both languages?

Yeah. It's like that. I paid a professional service, but I live in Vietnam and it's cheap here.

This is the blurb from NVC:

All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which you are applying for a visa, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that:

  • The translation is accurate, and
  • The translator is competent to translate.

Any other beneficiaries get NVC letter in the mail? My husband and I already got our case number Oct 31 and submitted on Nov 14, but today my husband got a letter in the mail from NVC with the case number and everything even though we had both already gotten the email over a month ago, I know it's nothing to be concerned about but I thought it was so weird! I didn't know they even sent physical letters. Sure took a while to get there, anyways!

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)

  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

Same day as me. I'm not expecting anything until December 20. Anything earlier and it's a nice surprise.

Yeah I read that and it’s what made me question because I translated myself for UCSIC but now it says certified so I wasn’t sure

Congratulations!!!! I really appreciate you sharing this with me. I started to feel disappointed. How many days from your original submission did you get DQ?

Thank you! We submitted first Nov 8, then on the 15th of Nov we got a mail to resubmit AOS form because it was editable. So we did the 2nd submission that same day 15th of Nov. Then on Saturday 30th Nov. hubby just added his pay stub for November. I was so surprised because I thought we would have to join the queue all over again(4-6wks). So don’t worry it could happen anytime. From our 1st submission till now is not even up to 4wks even with the submissions.
