Does the NVC still use the priority date? I thought it was only used by the USCIS

I don't think it matters for IR1\CR1 cases.

It does matter for visa categories with yearly limits. People applying for limited visas have to wait for their PD to become current even after their file has been approved and sent to NVC.

Spoiler

  • Oct 26 2019: I130 NOA2 (Notice date: Oct 21 2019)

I have a friend whose LPR wife filed for him before we filed our case. Last we talked he was still waiting for his approval from USCIS.

USCIS prioritize cases in the unlimited category as the limited visas cannot be processed by NVC before a certain date anyway.

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if there is a way  to know if NVC has received my approved petition? My petition was approved on 11/01/2019, yet to receive any correspondence from NVCThere is no further case status update on myUSCIS. I received the NOA2 (approval letter) on November, 6, letter states as folllows " we have sent the petition to the U.S. Department of State National Visa Center (NVC)..."

Thanks for your help & suggestion in advance

It took 2 and half month for my case to get welcome letter from NVC because  USCIS hold my petition for 2 months. I got approved letter but USCIS did not send petition to the NVC for that long.

I just tried to call NVC 78 times over 20 minutes. I don't think they answer the phone at night. I can't call at 7am...anyone have any luck with any other time of day?

Try Wednesday and you need to hold minimum of 30 minutes. Everytime I called them I had to wait 45 to 60 minutes. If you call them as soon as they open then may be little early they will receive your call.

They're closed Wednesday as it's January 1st. I wish I could even get to the part where you hold lol. I just got the automated message 78 times. I also am not able to call right at 7am, so was hoping people had some success at other times of the day. Surely these guys don't only work at 7am only...

I forgot about that too, do you think they are closed tomorrow since it's New Year's Eve?

Don't know if they open or not tomorrow. You need to keep dialing continuously. If you wait a minute and dial then always busy. Just keep dialing there number right after you hear customer service busy helping others. Try tomorrow after 8am.

I will not be calling because I've already submitted documents and just waiting for the next step. I was just wondering if they would be in the office working cases.
