If you did everything right, and all the documents are in order, then it will be 6 weeks until you're DQ. If there's an error or they require additional documentation, NVC will email you and tell you to log back in and check the messages for what's wrong/missing.

Once you upload those corrections or additional documents, you go back into the queue and wait another 6 weeks. They are running 6 to 7 weeks right now on all submissions. Unfortunately, you go to the back of the line if you have to resubmit. That process can be annoying.

When it's all done and you're DQ, then you'll wait for the interview letter, which will give you the interview date.

Since it seems like Canada is running behind on the IL, you're likely 6.5 months from the IL and roughly 7.5-8 months from the actual interview itself.

But you might get lucky and get your IL faster! You never know. Either way time goes fast so you'll be done before you know it.

Good luck to you!

Thanks, Robbie! That's about what I was expecting. Let's hope time moves fast! It will literally be two years since we got married until the interview. Why is this process so insane?! It makes me so sad.

Yeah, I know! It's crazy how long it takes. But I'm guessing that's by design. Ours got held up too because USCIS misplaced the file or whatever and never transferred it to NVC. It took 6 months haha crazy...RIGHT? So we're in that almost-two-years boat with you as well :)

Either way, I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and in the time that it's meant to happen in...

Happy New Year and best of luck to you guys!

There's a Canada specific spreadsheet that you might be interested in: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LvnDvX95_tfWtTvsJJM49PDPPvPKal0WG2rgdZHhsz0/edit#gid=1638721492

There's also a group of Canadians waiting for interviews. If you want to be added, I believe @Hawk Riders is the one to reach out to!

Hi, do you know if there’s a Nigeria specific spreadsheet floating around?

thank you.

No, sorry I don't. Looking at recent timelines it looks like it's not too bad, like 2-3 months from DQ to interview. Hopefully someone else can point you in the direction of a Nigeria spreadsheet if there is one :)

Random question: we are DQ and expecting my interview to be around March at the Montreal consulate. We have a joint sponsor that makes well over minimum requirements, but my husband was wanting to resign from him job to stay with me in Canada until my interview. What precautions are there when doing so, and what would I need to submit to the NVC?

Have you already submitted your financial documents to NVC and had them approved? If so, you should just bring an updated I-864 to your interview. If you haven't submitted financials and he quits first, your joint sponsor would have to have sufficient income without depending on anything your husband makes since his income will go to $0. The real problem with this scenario is that he will have to prove intent to re-establish domicile. Canada is very concerned about domicile. So, he would need to maintain strong ties to the US and show that he is planning to move back there with you on approval.

My husband had his interview on Dec 20th and was approved. His passport with his visa arrived today and he is taking the first flight out of Vancouver in the morning. I couldn't be more excited to finally be done with this process!! 2020 will be the best year ever, since we are finally going to be together! The good thing about this taking so long is that our 2-year anniversary was a few weeks ago, so we are now IR-1 and won't have to deal with USCIS until citizenship, lol!

Wishing you all the best! Thank you for your support during this process! This site is amazing!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2020 brings lots of ILs and reunites you all with your loved ones!

That’s awesome!! Congratulations!! my best wishes for you on this new year!

At least there is one good thing that it's been 2 years for you guys: you will get permanent green card and won't have to go through removing conditions process.
