Well Ive been driving EVERYWHERE! i want to test for my license asap and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how it goes? In the uk the testers are out to fail as many people as possible! Is that the case here? I get really nervous at exams and worrying that that will fail me! lol! I know that I just need to pay the $25 and I can have 3 attemps before I need to pay another $25 for another 3 attempts and so on. I've already done the written part of the test so just got the actual driving part to do! Any info, especially from people with Arizona licenses would be apprecitated! Thanks.

Heya Tam,

No AZ license but I watched someone take the driving part of the test in WA and I really don't think you have anything to worry about when you have taken a UK test before - the only thing I was concerned with was the fact they want you to parallel park between some cones, and the only car I have for the test is the Mustang which to me is huge (I am perfectly happy with my Ka here in Germany!) so I will be practising a lot before the test! It is nothing like the test in the UK, the girl just drove around the car park, parked between these cones, did a reverse and that was it - it literally took about 5 minutes.

Good luck!!

Thanks girl :) I didnt actually drive in the uk so I never did take the test before! I really worried about parallel parking! When I called the Tucson DMV they said there are 2 test centres, one where you need to parallel park, and the other where you just do the 3 point turn. Now on Yahoo answers (for the same question) someone said you need to do parallel parking regardless! There is NOWHERE at all in Tucson to Parallel park so I dont know how to even practice if I do need to parallel!! I'm gonna call DMV again today because I was hoping to take the test sometime this week!! (trying to get everything done before I get married!!)

Can you can afford to get a couple of hours tuition from a driving school, that what I did, she taught me a very easy way to parallel park. She also took me around the driving course and told me what they look for to fail you. It was kinda expensive but resulted in a pass so no biggie really.

Good luck

ok - just spoke to DMV again - the test centre i'm going to doesnt do parallel parking! phew! lol - they said its a 3 mile radius and I'll be doing left/right turns, changing lanes and a 3 point turn. I guess as long as I do everything by the book it shouldnt be that bad. Is there a best time to do the test as no appointment is needed and I can turn up to do it whenever??

If they are anything like the DMV in Oregon they positively want you to pass. It was quite straight forward and no nasty surpises on the route.

When everyone is at work and the kids are in school, is probably the best time.
