Really? I actually prefer LAX to be honest.. other than busy, the staff are usually pretty good... I’ve never been grilled going via there.. usually just one or two questions and have a nice day..

I usually fly into SFO as that's where my partner is and try to avoid LAX. Always, always get grilled at SFO every single time I fly in. Most recent trip officer wanted me to show return ticket and correspondence of my partner expecting my arrival (he wasn't, it was a surprise) imagine the officer's face when I said my partner isn't expecting me 😑

The one time I flew into LAX I was dreading it but I was asked just one question and then told to enjoy my vacation.

Happy OP's spouse had a great experience at LAX. I hope it's easy as that for me when it's my turn.

Same, I really like LAX. And being such a busy airport the employees know what they're doing. They have seen it all, they know the different processes for the different visas etc. That makes the processing much faster.

That's exactly why it's recommended that you go through one of the large (LAX, ORD, JFK etc.) airports until you get your green card - they are well-oiled machines. I remember reading a story of a guy that flew into one of those airports that gets like one international flight a day on advance parole (I think it was Salt Lake City airport), no one knew what the hell to do and he spent 90+ minutes there while the CBP officers were stumbling around. Then when they decided to clear him, they couldn't find the parole stamp LOL.

  • 2 weeks later...

Reason for my concern with the process is that it had been past two weeks and my wife was waiting for her social security card in the mail in spite of us applying for one (which her documentation CLEARLY states she  requested).  In fact, she is still waiting for it.   We went down to the local social security office today.  After a 90 minute wait, we were told that there is no record of a social security card being issued for her.
