For off my fellow Edmontonians out there... I just called the RCMP Headquarters office in Edmonton (780-412-5424). They informed me that ONLY Sherwood Park and St. Albert Detachements Issue Canada wide Police Clearances. Here is the 411:

Sherwood Park Detachement

Cost: $50 + GST

What you need to bring: 2 peices of ID (one w/ photo), you must make the request in person

How long it takes: 20 min if no record

Phone No: 780-467-7741

Address: 911 Bison Way, Sherwood Park, AB, T8H 1S9

St. Albert Detachement

Cost: $35 + GST for St. Alberta residents, $45 + GST for non-residents

What you need to bring: 2 peices of ID (one w/ photo) at the time the request is made, AND 2 peices of ID (one w/ photo) at the time of pick up, you must make the request in person

How long it takes : 2 business days if no criminal record. If you have a criminal record it could take up to 4 months (ouch!). If you have a criminal record you may want to go to local Police for shorter wait times.

How did you make out?

Did it come yet?

I am in a similiar situation, yet we have already received the 221-g...hoping to get the cert back to them ASAP as we really would like to travel by mid-august.

keeping my fingers crossed for you...and me too!
