Anyone had experience with changing the address online before arriving to the US? I wan't to make sure they don't send the GC to the wrong address.

Why don't you just inform the CBP agent upon entry

YMMV

I will do that as well, I would like to know if people who did this the GC actually arrived at the correct address.

I came across a lot of posts of people not receiving their GC

Thus my advice.   The AR11 change process is not 100% foolproof.

YMMV

When you supply the revised address to the CBP agent, tell him/her what you have done online, and ask about their process for reporting/recording the new information: "What other steps do you recommend I take to ensure that the USCIS system has this new address?"

The very fact that you're asking might inspire the agent to perform a very careful confirmation.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Will this also change the address for SSN? does the address for delivery has to be a registered address? I heard that USPS will only deliver GC and SSN to an address that is registered to the name of the person, is that correct? because we will be living in a temporary apartment for a about 6 months and it's not going to be registered to our name.

My husband (from Brazil) and I just went through this process recently.  I bought a house in California in June after he completed the DS-260 visa application for his CR-1 in April.  We had heard that the best way to change our address in the US, so that the green card is not sent somewhere else, is at the US POE, so we did that in August of this year when he arrived on the CR-1 visa.  My husband gave the officer at the Miami airport our new address and she entered it into the computer.  A week after POE, his SS card arrived at our new address, so we assumed that the process worked and the CBP officer made the correction on the system so that the green card would also arrive at the new address.  A month later, still no green card, so I called USCIS to ask when it might arrive and to check and make sure they had our new address in their system.  They said that the green card could take up to 4 months to arrive, and they still had the old address in their system.  So CBP's correction in August worked for the SS card but not for USCIS.  The nice person on the phone at USCIS walked us through the online change of address process and two months later my husband's green card arrived at our new address.  So the lesson learned is, always contact USCIS to make sure they have your correct mailing address, and if not, change it online, then call them a few weeks later to confirm that their system was updated.  Good luck!

Not sure what you mean by "registered to the name of the person."  USPS will deliver mail where it is addressed.  They don't care if someone has a lease or not, if their name is on the lease or if they own the house.  Addresses are not registered with USPS in any formal process.  If you're worried about this, go online and create a USPS account with your current address and names of you and your spouse so that you will receive an email notice when mail is coming to your address.  That's as close to "registered" as you will get.
