Yet more evidence that CA is way too expensive and turning into a cesspool.

For those of you living in Texas now, I hope for your sake that the incoming tides don't drown out the goodness of your state.

Regarding the move out of California, Schwab chairman and founder Charles Schwab noted California’s high taxes factored in the decision while observing, “…the costs of doing business here are so much higher than some other place.”

This, of course, is irrefutable and makes 100% sense.  Fortunately, they're not moving to Austin, which is essentially indistinguishable from California.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

It's a good case study about the toxicity of non-assimilation. The people in CA become cultural doormats, become assimilated, themselves, into the foreign non-assimilating culture, spread around and poison elsewhere when it goes to hell.

The good news is, plenty of states are starting to have conversations about this and are starting to harden their stances, being more socially demanding of people who go there to respect the way they do things. Of course, the defenses can only be kept up for so long. People wind up complacent, let their guard down, and that's generally where the bad habits come in, whether its external or internal sources of them.

I visit a number of these states, so it's been known from conversation with people, and the mistake of mentioning I'm Californian. But there's no shortage of stuff on the internet.. examples:

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-11-10/go-back-to-california-wave-of-newcomers-fuels-backlash-in-boise

Go back to California’: Wave of newcomers fuels backlash in Boise

“If you come here and love it, everything’s fine,” Roscoe said. “If you come here and fly that California flag in your driveway and have stickers on your car that say, ‘Santa Cruz,’ there’s going to be some hard feelings.”

Some native Idahoans have a message for Californians: Stay away.

That sentiment is so deeply entrenched, so common, that it is as familiar in Idaho as fry sauce and sagebrush.

But what are the roots of that stigma? And what keeps attracting Californians to the Gem State anyway — now more than ever?

Kristina Winterling, a recent arrival with her family to Boise from the Bay Area, said she left her California home because it was “turning into New York City, where people are so stressed out and confrontational. Imagine making six figures and not being able to buy a house for your family. You’re a renter living check to check in a mediocre town.”

There's just tons more, especially on Reddit, City-Data, Tripadvisor, and so on.. lots of hostility toward Californians, and I can't say I blame them.

I also posted about this 1-2 weeks ago:

Ever since I went to Canada about a decade ago, we visit the US at least a few times a year. I've actually visited many states for the first time that I never visited when living in CA. We've visited about 25 states since, most frequently we spend time in the states near the Canadian border. Not only do I frequently encounter Californians who look down their noses at the people where they live, especially if its in a "backwards red state", but even more, I encounter contempt people locally have for these types of Californians. I was advised in multiple states.. Washington (out east), Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, and so on, not to mention where I'm from, there are some who are actually hostile to others because of what people from my state have done, from destroying their livelihood, to ruining their hunting and fishing lands, many reasons that a logical person can empathize with, and probably should if they have an ounce of self-awareness and care for their own safety.

My son and his wife moved to Portland about 4 years ago when they got married.  For some reason they thought it would be a great place to live.  They are rather conservative and politics is something they forgot to consider when they did their research for a place to live.  Big problem in Portland.  Now their other major complaint is all those people moving up there from California.

They will be moving in the near future.  Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas are high on their list of places to relocate.

Yeah, didn't mean to take away from GA.  The whole area of N. GA into TN is beautiful.  Even over into Eastern NC.  If one dislikes city life, great places.  Of course, ATL offers the big city experience, but after living on the outskirts for two brief months, I would never live there again.

Chattanooga has been of interest to them, but then again their last pick was Portland.
