Interview Cancelled

Hey all! My Canadian fiance's interview was cancelled only 6 days before the date. The reasoning was because somehow "The interview was scheduled for an immigrant visa". We aren't sure how this happened but there's a few questions I have.

I'd like to note that we have tried to re-schedule, but the website doesn't have an option for I-129F/Fiance visa's. We have tried contacting through email, asking how to go about rescheduling. No one has replied and It's been almost 2 weeks now. In the past we have gotten responses within a few days if not less.

- On the interview scheduling site, which option should we be choosing for the fiance visa interview?

- Will my Fiance have to go and get another medical done once the interview is re-scheduled?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

IV (immigrant visa) section does all the K visa interviews.  USC advised to get on the horn and get this straightened out with the embassy.

Medical’s good for 6 months.  This means:  The visa will expire (needs to be used for entry) within 6 months of the date of the medical.

So then why did they cancel the interview? And what do you mean when you say USC advised to get on the horn? I'm not sure i follow, sorry.

Get on the horn = contact the embassy and determine why the beneficiary’s interview was cancelled and what it will take to reschedule it.

I was in contact with the embassy every single time Nita was up for processing anything or scheduling anything.

Oh i see. We have tried contacting through email. Our K-1 is going through the Montreal consulate, which I could not find a number to call that resulted in me actually talking to a real person. Its all automated garbage that doesnt help us at all. Any ideas on how to get in touch with someone quickly about this?

All embassy switchboards are automated garbage.  Some of that garbage exactly advises when they take calls, usually in afternoons for 2-3 days a week.  Otherwise I’ve had good luck with email, just takes a little patience.

Thanks for the help! I have one more question. If she comes to the US on a visitors visa and stays for up to 6 months on that, would it affect our process at all?

There is no correlation between the two, except sometimes it is troublesome to enter with a petition pending.  However, entry under those circumstances happens all the time.  Summary:  it doesn’t effect the K1, but could effect the visit.

Awesome! She has visited plenty of weekends while our petition has been pending with no issues, so i guess she would be fine. Thank you!

Mod hat off

Montreal does not take calls. You can only contact them through email. They are also very slow to get back to you.

Or you can  use the inquiry form.
