So good! I love the secrets part. It drives me crazy though... why would you, from the get-go, build a relationship, with hopes of spending a lifetime together(!!), on keeping secrets and not being open with your partner!!! Ugh!

27 NOV 2019 - I-129F mailed to Dallas, TX Lockbox

02 DEC 2019 - NOA1

What do you mean by secrets? There are things I haven't told my fiance. I don't make it a habit of disclosing things that happened in my youth. That was decades ago.

If the government knows about those things which of course they know everything... They will inform your fiance or prolly ask her about them... But whatever you do... Disclose them to the government because that will amount to misrepresentation if you don't..

Well yeah of course. I hold a DoD Top Secret I understand what I need to do. But unless my fiance asks about things, I don't divulge.

I'm this situation it's a bit different. But just like with a job interview, you won't divulge unless asked. You just cause yourself more problems by doing so.

Here is what we see happening when you are not forthcoming with your past to your fiance'. If the information is in front of the CO at the interview, by way of what you put on the forms and what comes back in your background checks, and the CO ask your fiance' and she/he says "I don't know about that" then you have raised a BIG OLE RED Flag. You certainty now put yourself in a situation where you could be denied and probably will be denied. So I wouldn't be so cavalier about your past. It's one of the requirements of the interview to be sure that the fiance' is knowledgeable about your background. If not, they may view the relationship as a scam and now you "Go directly to jail; do not pass go, do not collect $200"

Are we talking about criminal history here? I think your fiancee deserves to know if there are any skeletons in the closet. Aside from that, if the interviewing officer brings it up during the interview with your fiancee and he/she doesn't know anything about it, it may be a concern. I don't really know, I just read this forum a lot and that is some information I've seen put out there.

I highly agree with your last statement. You walk a tight rope of which most of us don't. My earlier reply is for your knowledge to do what is best for your situation, but also those who are reading this that have a "plain vanilla past" but there is this one thing that I have not divulge to my fiance' that could sink this whole process. I hope you understand where the rest of us are coming from. Good luck on the rest of your journey.

Yeah, I have an arrest from 16 years ago and was merely for fighting with a former college roommate. Fiance does not know yet, but prior to the interview, I will let her know.

Of course I put it down on the I129f, and included court/state records that show it does not exist.

Not bad at all. I’ve seen worse criminal history on VJ. Inform her of the situation before the CO does and all will be well.
