After Thanksgiving dinner with my elderly mother, came down to the Keys.

Did go to the grocery store today to get beer, and the gas station to buy gas for the boat. Does that count?

High of 80 and low tonight of 72.  Water temp is kind of chilly at 76.  Too cold for me to go swimming without a wet suit.

The beauty of having money work for you is that you wind up paying for nothing but taxes and your own time.

 

Dirt cheap Aquos 55 inch 4K TV for $399 in points, but $20 in taxes out of pocket. New basement TV. Daughter getting the old basement TV, computer room getting her old TV. Three switch games for $80 each in points ($240), $39 out of pocket plus $12 in taxes, so $51 for that. Total cash spent, $71 in Canadian pesos for a TV and 3 switch games.

 

Now it's going to just sit in the hall until later this weekend because I'm going to have to set all this stuff up (required connecting to network) and I don't let anyone touch this network as I have our media boxes and NAS/smart home/security system on it.

 

I love saving money, but these days remind me a lot of why I forced the wife to change up how we do vacations.. I get enjoyment out of doing fun things, not shopping, not looking at landmarks/strippers/etc. This morning was just exhausting.

Whelp husband ended up going back out..  Had some dud xmas lights. Discounted $2.99 a box! He also said he managed to get some great deals for his work department in campus wide purchases, and saved about $1,500 in merchandise.

Sears:  socks, and shirts/pants (these on very pleasing deep discount), for Mini-Bone ($40)

Thrift Store:  Jones New York & Vietnam-made ties plus much miscellany, all half-price ($11.75)

NAPA Auto Parts:  oil on sale, wiper blade, work gloves ($80)

Office Depot:  four 8-packs Bounty paper towels on sale + paper coupons ($38)

 

Mrs. T-B. did female-type-chica shopping at chica-type stores, purchases/expenses unknown but probably of acute myocardial infarction-inspiring level.

OK, I need a new vacuum cleaner to replace the one that exploded on me yesterday (it really did) and a new stern light for the boat.  Both to be ordered online...

If it pleases you and gets me off of probation I'll stop at Kmart to look and see what crapola they have on sale.  Shouldn't be too busy there.  LOL
