Yes I did! They approved the 751 this morning and now we’re waiting for oath ceremony status update. The tracking # for the n400 says they are actively reviewing the case. Hopefully it happens soon but it’s a major relief 751 was approved at least.

That’s great. Congratulations!🎉🎊

Question for people who already had their combo interview, did your file status for N-400 and/or I-751 update online to show it was transferred to local office anytime between interview scheduled and interview? The reason I ask is that we have N-400 interview in 2 weeks and so just wondering how accurate they are updating. TIA!

Just wanted to give an update on my two applications.

I submitted my I-751 in October 2018, and my N-400 in September 2019.  Had no activity on my I-751 after my biometrics appointment in November 2018 - almost two years.  Got an interview scheduled for my N-400 in April 2020, and was immediately de-scheduled because of the pandemic.

Fast forward a few months, and I got my N-400 interview re-scheduled for November 3rd in New York City - Election Day.

Everything I had read, and even after speaking to my lawyers, indicated that it would be a combo interview.  But when I was called for my interview, the interviewer said she only did N-400 interviews, and the I-751 was nothing to do with her, she had never heard of anyone doing combo interviews, and that it would be a different office processing that. She could not even tell me if I would need to come in for another interview or not.

Interview went fine, and at the end she was like "I can't give you a decision because of your pending I-751".  I asked if they could call that office, as it was in the same building, and it was my understanding that combo interviews were fairly common when the I-751 had not been processed.  She said she had never heard of that, and she could only give me a "no decision made yet" piece of paper, and said I could go home.

I was really dejected.  I had hoped to become a citizen that day, or at least get a date for my oath ceremony (everyone who got approved on November 3rd was given a December 18th date for their Oath Ceremony), but still felt that I was in limbo.

She then must have escalated my I-751 case because it was approved that same afternoon, and I received my approval letter the following day, on the 4th.

The I-751 approval letter stated:

We have approved your I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence. Our records also indicate that we have approved your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. Because we also approved your N-400, you will not receive a new Permanent Resident Card (also known as a Green Card). Instead, once you have taken the Oath of Allegiance, you will receive a Certificate of Naturalization, which will be proof of your U.S. citizenship. If you have questions regarding this process, please contact the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283.

So, that was great. But since then I have heard nothing.

The estimated case completion time stated January 2021 - 2/3 months after the interview, but last week, that estimated case completion time was pushed back a further two months to March 2021.

When I check my USCIS status both online and via their automated phone system, it says that my "Interview Has Been Scheduled".  There is nothing about it being completed (which it was) or approved (which the letter says is the case).

I called USCIS and spoke to an agent. They said that did seem strange, and that they could not see anything on their end, but that they could not investigate my case until at least 60 days had passed from my interview (which took place 55 days ago).

So, overall, I guess I should be happy that my citizenship seems to have been approved? But it looks like it is stuck in their system because of an error, and keeps getting needlessly delayed. And I do not have either a new Green Card with conditions removed or my certificate of naturalization.

I had all sorts of issues with my cases with the NYC office as well but they eventually got themselves together...I would follow up again after the 60 days. They didn't transfer half my cases, I ended up having 2 n400 one of which was a combo. I wouldn't worry but I'd just call and check to see what's happening.

Got an e-mail this morning at 7:45 that USCIS has taken action on our case!!!  I spoke with a USCIS representative and they said that the interview is 02/04/2021 at 9:55 AM. I'm still waiting for the official notice in the account though. No mention of the I-751, but I will be going and bringing updated evidence. We were told that the I-751 was at the field office, so praying there will be no issues in approving it along with the N400. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! :dancing:

Thank you! And 2 weeks after we filed the I-751 (March 2019) we received notice that the case was transferred. On the online account it states it was transferred to the local office. However, on the notice that was mailed it says it was sent to NBC. Last year (January 2020), when I reached out to the representative, they were able to confirm that the I-751 was at the office and waiting to be scheduled for an interview.

Question for people who already had their combo interview, did your file status for N-400 and/or I-751 update online to show it was transferred to local office anytime between interview scheduled and interview? The reason I ask is that we have N-400 interview in 2 weeks and so just wondering how accurate they are updating. TIA!

My I-751 was transferred to my local office 1 month before I got a notification that my n400 was scheduled.

Even if you don't see a notification that the case was transferred, go to the interview with your spouse expecting a combo

My Wife had N-400 and I-751 interview this morning.

We arrived at USCIS at 7:45 and were waiting in line outside for security which took about 15 minutes. I was able to go in with my wife and waiting inside the waiting area while she was interviewed.

The combo interview took about 30-35 minutes. The additional documents that he asked were for updated tax returns, joint bank account statement, utility bills.

For I-751, he asked who lives in house and who owns it. My name and birth day. With my wife being pregnant, he asked who is the father of unborn child also asked for document for the pregnancy. We took our last doctor’s visit and couple ultrasound pictures.

For the civic test below are the six questions that he asked:

1.      What stops one branch of government from becoming too powerful?

2.      Who vetoes bills?

3.      What is the highest court in the United States?

4.      How many justices are on the Supreme Court?

5.      What territory did the United States buy from France in 1803?

6.      What did Martin Luther King, Jr. do?

Reading test: Who can vote?

Writing test: Citizens can vote.

Then he went through all 50 yes/no questions and also ask what does Genocide and Persecuted means.

After all these, he said she is approved and he will approve the application in couple of days after he has chance to go through all the documents.
