Hi everyone,

My N-400 interview was supposed to be in late March but due to COVID-19, it got cancelled. My I-751 has been pending for two years and USCIS stated during an info pass appointment that I will have a combo interview. My old N-400 interview notice did not state anything about my I-751 or my husband needing to be present.

However, with the new regulations around who can enter the USCIS offices starting on June 4, I am worried that if the new notice they send me doesn't explicitly state that my husband has to be present, he will not be allowed in and the officer may not be able to adjudicate either I-751 and subsequently N-400 (since I-751 will still be pending). Any ideas?

You can still ask him to go with you and stay in the car or in the street. Let the officer know he’s there and he can attend the interview if needed. I hope you can have a combo interview and have both cases approved at the same time. Good luck!

Hmmm that’s actually a good question. I wonder how this will work for combo interviews? Hopefully when we get scheduled a interview that the letter say something about bring your spouse or that it will be a combo interview.

No. Just read and follow the instructions. You will need to scan all of your accompanying supporting evidence as attachments.

Will have my combo interview in 2 weeks.
Pretty nervous even though I don’t have much to be worried about. Got notice of N-400 interview mid June and just got a letter about the I-751 interview which will be same time and place.

Everything will be ok! Don’t worry! Did you have Interview in Us for your 2y green card?

Hi everyone.

I don't think I have posted here since I was on the K1 app process.

I submitted my I-751 on June 2019 and was feeling pretty discouraged by the CSC long wait times, until I found out I could submit my N-400 while waiting. I submitted it last week online. The USCIS page is giving my an estimated process time of 7 months - Feb 2021 which is really nice. I hope everything goes smoothly.

Ignore the estimated processing time, sorry to discourage you again but uscis’s estimated case completion time is mostly Inaccurate

Thanks for letting me know.

I went through some timelines from my local office and it actually seems pretty accurate, but this was before Covid. I'm sure they have a considerable backlog now.

Hey guys I saw that they USCIS is coming out with a new policy manual for there officers who are adjudicating cases. This section applies to us who are filing pending I-751 and N-400 petition. Here is the link https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-g-chapter-5

“2. Spouses with Pending Petitions and Naturalization Applications

An application for naturalization may not be approved if there is a pending petition for removal of conditions. If an applicant’s petition to remove conditions is pending at the time of filing or is filed prior to the interview, USCIS will adjudicate the petition to remove conditions prior to or concurrently with the adjudication of the naturalization application.”

An officer should conduct the naturalization examination even if the petition to remove conditions is not in the CPR spouse’s A-file. The officer should follow internal procedures to request the petition. The officer must not approve the CPR spouse’s naturalization application until the officer has reviewed and approved the petition to remove conditions.”
