Further Testing needed - Interview CXL- Help

I hope someone can offer some more information for this situation at the Santo Domingo Embassy:

My husband had his medical examination on Monday in preparation for his Interview on December 20. He got bad news and was told he needed to do further Tuberculosis testing due to an anomaly that showed up on the x-rays on his left lung. The doctor mentioned he wont be able to assist his interview or VAC appointment until the results come back in two months.

He mentioned they reach out to the embassy themselves and have the application placed on hold until the results come in and then the embassy will contact us with a new interview date. I tried reaching out to the embassy because I saw our VAC appointment was still active, not cancelled, on ustraveldocs.

How true is this? Do I need to have it placed on hold myself and cancel the appointment?

Thanks in advance!
