I am sure my interview will be cancelled.. its not worth living a life like this this.. I am booking a trip to Vegas and find a property to just relax over the weekend.. allegiant air is cheap lol.. no more stress!!

Let’s see. I still think it’s a mistake. They can’t close everything done again completely. Like said before could be for cleaning or something also.

Hey guys!

I just came back from my naturalization ceremony. The interview lasted about one hour, going through the N-400 application, taking Civic, reading, and writing tests. I was approved on the spot. Then, a same day oath was performed. I received my naturalization certificate the same day right after my interview.

Thank you guys for all your help throughout the journey!

Best of luck, everyone!!

So happy to you!!!! Amazing news!!!! I saw on your timeline you still had pending 751. Was you with your spouse today at the interview or no? Thanks

Congrats! 🥳 That is the way to go. All offices should do that doing this time!

I totally agree. btw do we know how many offices are doing the same day oath ceremony now? I know the New Jersey office was doing this before the pandemic happened.

I saw one in New Mexico that got same day oath. and then there is New Jersey as you say. Doesn't Seattle do it also? I don't know though. I know Kansas City don't it takes months for them normally unfortunately!

Personally I think they should. In this way, it clears out the backlog of cases faster; 2 birds, 1 stone kinda deal.

The interview schedule letter could be worded to the effect of "You are scheduled to appear for your Naturalization interview, (etc etc etc.). If you are successful in completing this interview, you will then have the opportunity to stay for your Oath ceremony. In this case, please walk with X paperwork, documents (etc etc etc.). Should you choose to have your Oath ceremony scheduled for another date and time, please inform the interview officer."

I don’t know if they can do it instantly. My understanding is that all applications recommended for approval have to be reviewed by a supervisor, and even the offices that have hitherto offered same day have had a few hours between recommendation and oath. In general though, I think it’s an excellent idea, even if you have to take a socially distanced stroll around for an hour or two before you can go back to take your oath.

I’m in a danish group on Facebook and we just had a guy from New Mexico that got sworn in right after the interview and got his certificate. So I guess they can do it if they wanted too and is prepared for it. But heck I would gladly go get something to eat while they prepared the parr’s and then come back and get it 😉

Yes, seattle office does do same day oath. It seems that seattle office is doing same day oath right after N400 interview and you can get your certificate the same day.

That’s how it should be at least right now!
