The plan is to move prior to the 3 month rule and establish ourselves before applying.  Definitely will not file in Miami and then have the case transferred for fear of something going wrong.

I would not do that either

What ever you feel most comfortable with. A lawyer can't really do much for you when your case is not complicated.

This is to clarify, just in case it's not known, that there are two separate and distinct USCIS field offices in Miami.  One is in Miami and the other is in Hialeah.  The Miami office has a processing time of 8-31 months and Hialeah has a processing time of 4-16.5 months.   The Miami office is like a black hole that absorbs a lot of energy but emits very little light and the Hialeah office  the light at the end of the tunnel at times is a train coming at you that's about to derail.  Whether one ends up in one or the other office depends on the zip code or area one lives in greater Miami.

Regardless, since I live in Miami, I've been looking at apartments in Hialeah, Jacksonville and as far away as Raleigh, NC, (the fastest in the USA) in order to avoid Miami.

For the ones worrying about the writing part of the test now, please remember:

You could not be failed because of spelling, capitalization, or punctuation errors unless the errors would prevent understanding the meaning of the sentence.

Imo if you are able to write in here and people understand what you try to say, you should be fine
