You are not required to accompany your spouse' naturalization interview and will not be allowed into the interview room unless the interviewing officer specifically expresses so.

If filing under the 3 year rule your spouse has to be there. Now if they are let in or not is up to the different officers I have seen both. I have also seen on person that was just given the test in the waiting room.

What's up with Seattle office?  Seattle is probably one of the most dysfunctional USCiS offices in the country.  This office can't seem to process applications in a timely manner.  The manager of the office needs to be replaced and replaced with a person who knows how to implement a system that processes applications in a timely and qualitatively  and quantitatively manner.  Managers of USCIS offices around the country, a good example is the manager of the Cleveland office who is recognized as one of the best managers who turned around a problem office into a model office for the rest of the other offices,  are trying to respond to pressure from Congressional committees and USCIS itself to be efficient, responsive and timely in processing applications.  The manager of the Seattle office is unable to turn the office around in spite of having more resources (money and staff).   The applicants or clients of USCIS suffer the incompetence or profit from the competence of others only because of where they live.

It's been previously discussed here on VJ.

I am applying under the 3 year rule and my husband will come with me either way (even if he has to wait outside), but I think that if they required the spouse's presence, they would probably put it in the letter. My letter doesn't specify that he has to be there:

Try and ask if you get a nice one I’ll try and do the same I’m curious to see if it’s office specific or just some interviewer that says it or what going on.

Update: looks like the online uscis account will let you know when you are getting appointments for fingerprints and etc. I am pretty impressed, I really like this function. Now waiting for the the letter :)
