Layla, in what city and state did you apply?  Hopefully over time the 13 months will be reduced to a more reasonable number.  Supposedly USCIS is under congressional pressure to speed up the applications.  Best to you....

Layla, currently for Houston the processing time has a range of 10 to 15 months.   That means, according to USCIS, they process 52% of the applicants in the first 10 months.  Another 42% of the original 100% are processed between 10 and 15 months.  The remaining 8% are processed after 15 months.  However, if your application has been submitted without errors I think USCIS will process it within the first 10 months.  Best...

Just filed today (DEC 26), online 🙂

Now let the wait begin...

How do I know which center will process my N-400?

Assuming you are in Irvine it will probably be  the Santa Ana field office.

Click on the link below and go to the Service Area for Santa Ana and see if you see your zip code and or city.

Thanks,

It seems processing times for N-400 at the Santa Ana office is 12.5 - 15.5 months... 🙁

Santa Ana, unfortunately, is one of the slowest in the country.  However, under Congressional pressure, USCIS is trying to process all applicants at a rate that is faster than the current glacial speed that we are witnessing at Santa Ana and other USCIS sites.  Don't be surprised if your case is transferred to another site for processing (this is a new mandate started a few months back to take care of the backlog at places like Santa Ana).  They will do your biometrics at Santa Ana but your interview could be at another center in California or even out of state.  The travel expense to another site would be borne by you and your spouse. 🙁

I guess they want lots of new citizens for the upcoming elections 🙂

Let's hope they really do have a devious Machiavellian plan to create a larger voting bock by processing N-400 applications at warp speed:-)

Would you be filing online? If so, there are step-by-step guidelines on what they need you to upload. Then you would have the option on uploading additional documents YOU think would be valuable to include with your application.

As for the 5-yr residency question, if you have not traveled outside of the United States since you have come here as a Legal Permanent Resident, then your answer would be NO or N/A.
