I attended my interview yesterday and was approved! I arrived at 8:55am as my appointment was at 9:10am. There was a small line with social distancing outside the main entrance of the building. The officer looked through the door and motioned at each person to step up when the doorway was cleared. I was finally checked in at 9:11am and then had to sit in the main waiting area which had limited seating based on them blocking off 4 chairs with caution tape in each row. There were only 8 of us waiting. 

After sitting for 2-3 mins, an officer came and called numbers. A lady who arrived after I did ended up getting called before me. It was a short wait as I was called after 5 mins.

I was led down a hallway by a very friendly official where we then got to his office and I was sworn in before sitting down, then the civics portion began.

He asked:

1. What are 2 parts of Congress?

2. What is the supreme law of the land?

3. What was Benjamin Franklin famous for?

4. Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

5. Why does the flag have 50 stars?

6. What did Martin Luther King Jr. do?

 

Question to read off tablet - WHEN IS FLAG DAY?

Answer to write on the tablet - Flag Day is on June 14.

 

We then talked about my application, went through the yes and no portion, then he asked about my life in Trinidad, places I've lived, worked, etc. He really made the entire process feel so at ease and he eats Trini food so he started talking about that and I was very surprised that he knew about a lot of our dishes  

At the end of the interview he checked off items on a paper, told me that I passed and he was recommending my approval and then said that they are no longer scheduling persons for future oath ceremonies (which made me nervous) but then he followed up by explaining that oath ceremonies are being done on the same day as the interview once the candidate passes! He thanked me for swapping recipes lol and then he led me to the main ceremony room to await another officer who would be bringing out the certs.

In that room was the same 8 persons from earlier and then a young woman came in with our certs and explained to review it carefully for any errors that could be fixed then and there because once we step outside of the building and see an error, then we would have to pay the same fee to get the cert replaced. She said once everything was accurate we could leave or stay and have pictures taken in the room. Only 3 of us stayed back to take pics because that was a memorable day to NOT take at least 1 photo! 📸

I left at 10:40am so not bad for the time spent there.

 

  

 

 

 

 

Congratulations your interview/oath went so smooth. Quick question do they give you multiple choice for the answers like the practice questions or do you need to know the answers from you memory, please?

Our N400 was approved on 10/28/2020, after contacting our Senator for assistance with our I751 (also approved on the 28th). Our oath is scheduled for December. So glad this process is almost finally over!

I passed my interview and took my oath in Mount Laurel, NJ today. My interview only took 10 mins and then 10 mins later had my oath taking ceremony with 5 others. I am finally a US citizen! The officer was awesome and he talked to me about Russell Peters and his jokes since we both are from Canada. It was a smooth experience overall. This forum has been a great help. Good luck to the rest of you!

It's been more than two weeks since my wife & son received interview date. I am still waiting for mine (Dallas field office).

Did anyone are in similar situation?

Could you post some of the details you had in your message to the Senator? I have been waiting since Dec 2018 for I751, and December 2019 for my N400. I just keep getting told its delayed, and USCIS are useless..

My green card is expiring in 20 days but I am still waiting on N400 and I751. I called USCIS to get I551 stamp but they said they don't have any appointments available. 

 

Do I need to leave USA after my green card expires?

I downloaded the form off the senators website and just explained what happened. We went to N400 interview, but it couldn't be approved because they said they couldn't find our I751 paperwork and had no idea where it was. Also added that I751 had been pending for almost 2 years. Just wrote them the facts, no complaining or opinions. 

 

They emailed back and asked for any official paperwork uscis sent us to be emailed to them so they could track the I751. We did that, they contacted uscis, they sent us the email exchange between them and uscis, and two days later everything was approved.

 

We contacted two senators and two representatives and only one ever responded so if you go this route make sure you contact everyone you can so you have a better chance of someone actually listening.

Don't leave US at all.. You are still legal permanent. your card is expired but your status is still valid. Plus your i751 is still in process..

Ok my interview is coming and this election is making me so nervous. What am i gonna say if i was asked who is the president and vice president? They seriously need to finish counting already!

Technically, Trump would still be the president if you have your interview before January 20, 2021.

Really, I didn’t know that. I thought usually they announce the new president shortly after the election. Thank you for telling me!

Biden will be the new president but he won't be sworn in until January, 20, 2021.
