May I ask what could be the possibility of approval for a couple who are not legally separated but just living apart? For I751 application, interview on January 15, 2020...

If the separation is due to job or school and the two of you are willing to appear on the day of interview or your spouse happened to work with the military and happens to be out of the country then you should be fine but if the separation is due to issues about the marriage where that could cause your spouse for not appearing on the day of interview with you then that could be a problem.

What is the cause of the separation?

Just very different individuals,  he likes the cold weather of MN, I love the warm weather of CA. I'm career oriented,  he isn't as much. But he said he will come join me in the interview.  Only thing is, he hasnt been living with us since August 2018. I just let him do what he wants, none of us filed or discussed divorce.
