Horrible and dehumanizing jobs keep changing faces throughout history. Maybe a universal basic income one day along with a sustainable population that’s supported by automation would solve this problem.

Me too, it would give me more time to figure out how to bake properly.

Absolutely... but being able to make maple pecan cookies from scratch gives me the happy feels.

I have an amazingly simple and delicious brown (i.e. wholewheat) bread recipe if you are interested. Basically no knead and it is SO good. Just needs a little butter. I'm making some on Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving. :)

Def, I love a good bread recipe anytime.

Is Friendsgiving a new term that came up this year? Or has it been around a while?

I have heard it for quite a while, though this is my first one -- I am usually near my parents' home in SoCal for the day, and the only two years I wasn't, I was in the UK. I ate a turkey sandwich from Boots on one of those occasions! It was kind of ... sad. The second time I didn't even bother. But I'm staying up here and it's going to be me, Al, my two co-workers, and another friend. I'm making the bread in the morning. I'm also responsible for mashed potatoes (I am excellent at those), two kinds of stuffing (vegetarian and sausagemeat), and a pumpkin pie.

This is the recipe -- I lovelovelove Delia Smith recipes! I got the flour at Whole Foods, and I did need to get a new bread tin (NOT from Amazon), but it was super easy. Here it is: https://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/type-of-dish/bread-recipes/wholemeal-loaf

I want to make this at some point: https://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/international/european/british/spiced-bread-pudding-with-brandy-cream

Sausagemeat stuffing I have not heard of but it sounds really delicious! I am making green bean casserole and roasting the turkey, which is brining in the fridge right now inside a bag like some sort of weird alien incubator 😝

Thanks for that recipe it looks like something that can be made very conveniently too. I will give it a go. These days I am trying to eat more healthy carbs to gain some winter mass. Boy, winters here are brutal.

The bread is great -- I get up early anyway on Saturday mornings, and by the time I leave for work at noon I have a loaf of bread baked and cool enough to eat.

Sausagemeat stuffing -- I use the same recipe my mom uses, which is from Betty Crocker. https://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/classic-bread-stuffing/129aa22f-2203-483e-a7a9-dde5b5c6b715 If you scroll down, there's tips on additions you can make, and that's where the instructions on sausage stuffing is. I love it -- very indulgent. When I make stuffing, I do do it from scratch with day old bread instead of buying cubes.

Slightly back on topic, our cousin who came over on a DV worked at Amazon for a few months recently.  It was a good paying job for entry level, but as he said, not too fun.  He finally found an IT job recently, so luckily he will miss the Holiday rush.

My boycott of Amazon just passed 8 months. That is to say I have not used their online retail services or affiliates for that time frame. As much as I'd like to, it's hard to completely avoid Amazon. Over half of Amazon's operating income comes from it's web services and hosting platforms.
