Connecting flight (Cebu to Korea to NYC) with K1

Hey all,

My Fiancé is worried about having trouble at the airport in Seoul, Korea during the connecting flight. I couldn't find any specific information about this.

If we stop in Korea for a connecting flight to US, we don't need any special visa if we stay inside the airport terminal?

I assumed that it would be the same for me with a US passport.. as long as you have valid credentials for final destination you can stay in the terminal for connecting flights? She has a Philippine passport and K1 visa ready to go.

Thanks!

Right, as long as you stay in the airport no visa is needed.  That’s a really nice airport, I had a couple of long layovers there and found some fully flat recliners for naps

The answer is based on country of nationality as to whether a transit Visa is required,  so you cannot assume.   For Seoul,  a filipina doesn't require a transit visa

My wife and I stopped in Seoul on our 10-hour layover to the US and even went out to explore the city. Neither of us needed a visa -- they just briefly checked our passports. Hope this helps!

I flew MNL>ICN>LAX in August with my filipina fiance on K1.   Stayed in ICN terminal for 3 hr layover, and we experienced no issues.  You will be fine!
