Dear VisaJourney Community

On the I-130 Checklist it mentions that Employment history is required from both the petitioner and the beneficiary. My wife is a Master's student now and previously she was a Bachelor's student before then with no employment history. The place I was working at for the past 5 years got shut down. What kind of evidence can I provide in this case for me and her in regards to Employment History?

Also, what can qualify as "address history for past 5 years" for her as she is living abroad?

Thanks

Then you put down "Enrolled in University, not employed" or something like that.

You still have to put that down. They fact that they are shut down now is irrelevant. They were open and you worked there.

I don't think you need evidence. For her, she was in school. For you, maybe taxes, W2... Where does it ask for evidence of employment from 5 years ago?

She must live somewhere, even abroad. It must have an address. Unless she's been homeless and living on the streets for the last 5 years?

Ok thanks. Citizenpath.com mentions that Form I-130 requires that details be provided for employment history for the past 5 years from both the petitioner and beneficiary. Do you think that actual physical documents need to be provided or do they mean answering the questions on the form regarding employment?

No. Follow actual instructions provided by USCIS https://www.uscis.gov/i-130

You only need to list employment for the last 5 years. That is all that's required. For example, from Jan 2015-Aug 2016: McDonald, from Aug 2016 -May 2018: Arby's... Just follow instruction provided on the form and the document from the link above that say "Instructions". Nothing fancy.

you are over thinking it. you dont have to provide proof of previous employers or residencies. Just give the info they ask for. They do not contact employers to verify.
