Hello,

I am planning to apply for my spouse the CR1 visa.We recently got married after being together for almost 2 years. We lived and we are still living separately , but I have taken many extended trips to her country for the wedding and before and we also traveled the world together. We don't have any joints assets nor liabilities to offer as evidence of biona fide marriage.Only things we have are proof of travel, pictures  and marriage proof. If you guys have any other advices what we could use as evidence for this  case (spouse not in the US) please let me know.

Thanks,

Chris

The first time I read the list of suggested documents, I kind of panicked as have others initially.

First,  realize that your situation is like others’ who have been approved.

Living separately, it’s not expected to have joint assets yet.

Generally, the travel to see her and the travels together should be the the thrust of your case.  You’re simply showing you did see each other.  Any documentation you can pull together (itineraries for flights and hotels ideally.  Anything really works...emails from the airline/hotels, receipts, frequent flier statements, etc.  A little folklore passed around here on VJ is only a boarding pass will do, as anything else isn’t proof of the flight being taken.  USCIS would have to think your case looked pretty shady for that to be alleged.)

Passport stamps also show the travel.

Pictures together.  Samples of texts and emails and chats.  Not exhaustive tomes here.  They aren’t interested in the actual conversations, just enough to show some regular communication.  We chatted daily , but I picked a snippet of once a week and then was only a few exchanges from each conversation.

If you ever sent money for anything via Western Union, that helps.  But may not apply.

It sounds like you have the items above. You are probably fine and just need to document them .   Some people go overboard on wedding pictures.  Two or three if family was present are plenty.  The certificate confirms a wedding took place and many of us got married civilly in a government office out of necessity.  A big or extravagant wedding doesn’t mean anything.  In fact I have seen a couple from high fraud countries get accused of staging it.  A picture or two from each visit should be fine.  Focus on pictures where you were with her family and friends.  Also different landmarks and seasons help.  I used one or two pics to match each travel document.
