I am holding a K1 visa, got married about 2 months ago, applied my SSN about 3 weeks ago. However, I have received a letter saying the SSA cannot issue a SSN to me because

"The DHS is unable to verify the immigrant document you submitted as evidence of your lawful alien status"

What does that even mean? The documents I submitted were K1 visa and valid I-94.

Can anyone please give me some advise what I should do now?

Based on your US entry date (08/26/2019) you must now wait for either the EAD or the GC.

yea.. I guess so... but do I have to worry about that they are unable to verify my immigration status?

No, are you the husband or the wife? If you are the wife then this doesn't surprise me because you came in on your maiden name and now you are trying to get a SSN with your married name. Thus the mismatch in the system which is pretty common

I'm the wife, but I applied it with my maiden name because we tried with married name before and that officer said he couldn't because the name does not match with that on I-94.

I tried to contact USCIS to clarify my immigration status, but couldn't reach anyone...

Yeah you tried it with the married name first thus the mismatch. Then when you tried it again with maiden name there was not enough time left on the 90 day authorized stay

I hope you're right.. that letter worries me.

So now I don't have the SSN, does that mean my husband cannot put me in his health insurance?

You can get health insurance with no SSN. I know I am right so please just calm down. When are y'all going to file for AOS

If you tried  to get the SSN card in your married name it would not match your passport or your I94 that's why SSA could not issue. You should have applied in your maiden name.

when it is convenient to apply SSA with visa k1 before getting married or after?

It is always recommended to get it before you get married in the maiden name. Once you have that it is very easy to get it changed once you have the marriage certificate
