This story is nonsense. Personally, I would never be walking around in the nude in front of my children, and it seems rather odd that one would remove their clothing to 'hang' drywall and apparently while drunk. But as the article goes there have been other concerns that social services were investigating that led to this, and the actual mother of the children had her own concerns as well.

Hanging drywall. While topless. Makes no sense. Pretty gross and weird. Not here to judge her morality though, but the entire story is fishy.

People are weird. If there's more to it, fine. But if she was hanging drywall topless and her husband was also hanging drywall topless, and there wasn't anything sexy going on in front of the kids, why should the state care?

Because obviously as the article states, social services was already investigating the couple. So, while I'd like to always be a privacy advocate against an intrusive government, I find her story a little odd, and perhaps a little made up. But of course.. people are weird.

I can totally see it from the other side, don't get me wrong. But I also know that parents can get caught up in tangles with DCFS that aren't based in actual reality. Some well-meaning person makes a report, and life gets turned upside down. We don't know enough here, I agree. I suppose we'll learn more.

She made the report about the toplessness, but it says that they were being investigated for another separate issue. Personally? As a mother, and my kids reported to me that their new 'mommy' was going topless in front of them, I'd be pretty furious.
