Hello all! I am new here. I met my Filipina fiance online back in May, we chatted for months, and I just got home from a visit to the Philippines to meet her. I am here now trying to file the K1 visa for her to marry me here but I am not sure how to go about proving intent to marry. I can type up a letter and sign it, sure, but she doesn't exactly have access to computers and scanners in the Philippines, and mail to her country takes forever...if it even arrives. How can I prove intent to marry? I appreciate your help guys because I am really bad at this sort of thing.

No Internet cafe near her? No friends with a computer that can print it for her? No printing business that you can send it to and then she can pickup to sign? I'm assuming she has a smartphone as you met online, so scanning it back (a good photo can work) is not an issue.

Worst case, mail that sucker (DHL/FedEx, etc preferred..never rely on PI's regular mail system).

So, with this intent to marry, do I need separate letters, one from her and one from me with both of us signing them? Which ones do I send with my paperwork when I file? I have been gathering the things I need and this intent to marry thing just doesn't seem to make much sense. She is a live in babysitter in Metro Manila so she could probably go out to an internet cafe somewhere if it came to that. I just want to be absolutely certain I do all of this correctly.

Either works. Most people do 2 separate letters. You send both letters.

Hmm....so, if I do 2 separate letters, could she then just make one of her own, only sign it herself, and then email it to me or something? Then I can make one of my own, only sign that one myself, and send both letters with my paperwork? I had no idea that proving you want to marry someone would be so complicated as this haha.

Yes, that works fine too. She just needs a signed letter to state that she intends to marry within 90 days of entry on the K-1 visa. A printed version is fine, per the signature guidelines posted above.

Ok, that makes sense now. I was thinking at first that I would need one letter personally signed by us both. If I can use 2 separate letters and just printed copies of those letters, that won't be nearly so bad.

You each need to sign a Letter of Intent to marry.   I will attach a copy.    Your fiancee will need to sign and email a copy to you to include with the I-129F.

Thanks Hank! She will go to an internet cafe on her day off from work soon and do that letter of intent. I have gathered everything I need for the paperwork other than that, so I should be able to file soon.
