The courtesy letters have nothing to do with if they have your file or not, it's a generic letter. Some get them, some don't but it's not an indicator for a missing file.

Don't you have vaccination records? Like what did you took to your original exam to prove your vaccinations? Or get a titer test done. That should be fairly cheap

Interesting thought that it's a generic letter. I have been naive to assume that when the case is ready to be scheduled for an interview that means that they have all the files they need and we would have been given an RFE in any other circumstance. But we live and we learn hey. 🙂 gotta stay positive.

Titer test is a great suggestion. Seems ludicrous to need to redo all the vaccinations you only just had @NJShoreMom! 🤷🏽‍♀️

My assumption is that at NBC they only look at your current AOS application hence why you have to send the NOA2 from your I129f and your visa page of the passport ( they could look everything up but it would probably cost even more time ). That's what they need to do the initial processing. Since one doesn't have to send anything medical related with the initial application they probably send courtesy letters to the ones who didn't sent the vaccination sheet ( and sometimes even to the ones who did ).

After your file makes it from NBC to the LFO and they schedule your interview they request your complete file from whatever storage unit holds it and the officer that processes your case will get it a couple of days ahead of your interview. Kinda like a just in time thing. At that point it's too late to send you anything if the officer even looks at your file until an hour before.

Well that's just my idea how a system that's completely overwhelmed might work.

And about the vaccinations: no good doctor would suggest to just redo every vaccination, they should suggest a titer test otherwise run and find a better doctor 😄

Right its generic but they send them out to people who do not have a medical in their file for whatever reason.  It gives a chance to make up for the deficiency prior to the interview rather then have someone come only to get slapped in the face.  So why do "some" get them and some not?  Doesn't make sense.  As for the vaccination records yes we had them but stupidly gave them to the interviewer and I already said our bad we should have had a copy guess in the moment we were flustered, again, shouldn't she have know we would have needed them?

I guess my post serves as a warning to dot your i's and cross your t's cuz even when you think everythings in order you never know.

It would have been nice right to get one of those courtesy letters!! Or even be given an RFE or told what to do next but we have been left in the dark. I was advised it's a 50/50 chance of even finding my medical file so I may need to redo mine too. How did you go about finding a local civil surgeon? Was it easy to arrange?

Wishing you the best of luck with the vax!

There is a list of civil surgeons on USCIS's website.  Type in your zip code for local.  Call around for pricing, but be forwarned they are all rather expensive 😕  Best of luck to you as well, I keep saying chin up we're in the home stretch.

Yes, we will ask, right now we are so overwhelmed disapointed and frustrated we are of the mindset "Just suck it up buttercup" and do it rather then chance they will give us more headache.  It was the civil surgeon himself that refused to fill out the form unless he had the vaccination records so...🤷‍♀️

Of course he won't fill out the form without any proof. You have to show him something but surely not doing vaccinations again that aren't needed. What I meant in my other post was: what do you took to the medical in your homecountry to proof your vaccination status? Why not giving him these documents?

And did you tried to contact the doctor from your medical and asked for a copy of the vaccination sheet?

Just had the interview today in Boston! We got the notice that they scheduled it on September 30th for an October 20th interview date. They had us (and most other couples) go in separately, citizen first then beneficiary. Interview lasted 20-30 minutes and they told us were approved! Just waiting on the status to change online and now wait for the green card!

Congratulations!!!! 🙂🙂

Just had our interview and we were APPROVED on the spot. The USCIS officer was awesome and very friendly. He didn’t even ask about our relationship. Lol

He said we had such a good package that we sent that he didn’t even look at our new photo album that we brought. The only additional evidence we gave him were the tax returns that we filed together and my health insurance showing him on it.

The interview was less than 15 mins. And only that long because he was asking those standard yes or no questions from the form to my husband.

Congrats!! We also had our interview this morning and were approved on the spot. 😀 Our interview took about 20 minutes. I wouldn't say our interviewer was friendly, but he wasn't rude or anything, just going through the questions. I gave joint bank statements, my credit card information showing he is an authorized user, health insurance cards, photos, documents from a car purchase as well as loan info. I offered the tax transcripts that show we filed together but he didn't want them. So glad to be done.

Congrats to you guys as well. I agree, so happy to be done. I can’t believe that it was done so quickly. Well better to be prepared and not need all the stuff we brought than the other way around.
