Hello!

Anyone from Souther California still waiting? My interview has been ready to be scheduled since February 28 (204 days ago) and we haven0t gotten any new info yet. It's getting kind of old not going to lie...

For those that have been to the interview, can you just bring your original marriage certificate? They won’t want to keep it right? Or do we need to get a certified copy for them to keep?

You've already sent them a copy. They'll just look at the original to confirm that the copy they have is from your original.

To add to what @Letspaintcookies  said , we took the original along to the interview but the IO never asked of it.  Thanks. All the best in your interview.

Question for those of you who had the interview already: did your interview letter request a certified copy of the marriage certificate? If so, did they really want to see that and keep it? With everything in lockdown there’s a 6-8 week wait for certified copies from the department of health over here so there’s no way I can get that before the interview. I mean worst case scenario I bring the original and they keep it, right?? Haha interesting times.. 😄 Any insight is greatly appreciated 😊

yeah they may keep it, then just order a certified copy for your own records.

They did not keep the certified marriage license we brought with us since we had already mailed one in with our i485 packet.

Yes the letter did say they wanted it but at my interview a couple weeks ago I didn't even get asked to show our marriage certificate or half the documents on the list they tell you to bring along lol.

I bought like 3 certified copies at the time because of situations like this when you don’t wanna give originals etc.  So if I was asked, that’s what I was going to show & would have been willing to give if they did want to keep it. I doubt they would though honestly! 🙂
