We called USCIS and they saw that it wasn’t sent over to the SS office. So that is when we called our local SS office and got an appointment to get one. The appointment was about a week after our call and we got the card in the mail a week after that. Good luck to you guys, I hope you can get this resolved.

Update:

I'm the guy who posted one page back about receiving notice that our cancelled interview had been scheduled again.

We received our interview date today and it is August 3rd, FYI.

Congratulations 🎉🎊🍾

My social security card arrived last Friday, exactly a week after my in-person appointment 😊🙏 I’m sooooooooo thankful ! For those who need an in-person meeting, just argue your case politely but firmly with a supervisor 😍

We just got our denial letter for a social security card because you have to do an in-person interview. Though we were told by two employees over the last two weeks, all we needed to do was send in the work permit card and there would be no issues. This is extremely frustrating. They are now allowing appointments for dire-need only, which means you have a job already lined up or already starting working. Thankfully, my husband did start working a week ago, just wish they would make up their minds about the adjustments for Corona. Now it’s another week of waiting to hopefully get approved for an appointment and then a week for the card after the appointment. Praying we get it by July 15 since taxes must be filed by then and you also aren’t able to do ITIN appointments. 😞

I wanted to make sure to send an update, so those trying to get SSN don’t get the round about like us. Blessings and best wishes!

One other potential way but risky is you can send in your  original forms and proofs via the mail.  It's  risky yes, but desperate times  call for equally desperate measures.

We did that. That is how we got the denial which told us that first time people have to do an in person appointment. It’s the reason I posted. We were told to send in original documents two weeks ago, we did, and then today we got the denial letter. I called the office and now we are waiting to hear back from the supervisor about doing an in person appointment. She said we should head back in 2-5 business days.

Ahh I see, ours was for a name change. I did not know the first time had to be in person.

Yes that is why our local SS office would do an appointment for us due to it having to be in person.

We had the same issue when he just got his driver’s license. We waited for hours at the local DMV location before they opened...only for them to tell us we had to go to a different location.  This was because non-citizens had to go to only one location. Luckily, we drove over there and it didn’t take long at all.

Crazy things that I never thought would be different. But we are learning as the process continues......

I’m sorry.. I myself persisted in talking to a supervisor, and argued my case very politely but very firmly. I was granted an in-person appointment and got my social security card exactly a week after the appointment.. did they grant you an in-person meeting?
