I don't know if this will help anyone, but I've been searching a case number that's close to mine and they've been approving quite a lot of cases. 🤞

I do not see what you see, even though our filing dates are close.

My number is ahead of yours and all I see is Case Received.

Yeah.. unfortunately I don't know how they work. I thought case numbers with close filing dates were close too, but I guess not. At least I can see that they are approving cases every day and I guess that's good.

I think it is because she sorted them on the app with last updated first.

I sorted the cases too. By date and by category. All EADs around my case are still pending.

It is good to know that people are still getting EADs, though.

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope everyone is healthy.

Has anyone's spouse (sponsor) here experienced layoff due to the virus?

I would like to know how this situation might affect AOS. At least hypothetically now...

Thank you.

Yes, my husband. And we live in Florida, so unemployment here's a joke. However, I don't see how this can have an effect on AOS. Everyone is in this situation right now. It's the closed USCIS offices that have a big effect on AOS😄

This is harsh, I am sorry. Hopefully he is going to be able to find a job soon.

My husband can lose his job any day now, too.

I was just wondering if losing a sponsor (technically the sponsor cannot sponsor anyone if he or she is unemployed) can have any effect.

Guys it very much can affect your AOS if your sponsor has been laid off. I just had a read of the following thread and despite this sponsor losing their job they got approved anyway but could be due to the severance package received. Hopefully with the current situation they would be lenient, but i wouldnt go in expecting them just to "write it off" either. Dont want to worry you, but Id rather go in "eyes open".

Well, the thread was from 2018 - we live in a different world right now with over 30 million USC unemployed.

Let alone, we do not even know when our interviews will be rescheduled.

Mine was supposed to be on April 23, and I think with everything going on there will be a 3 months backlog at least.

Joint sponsorship might be a thing, though.

youre right, hopefully will land a job between now and interview or find a co-sponsor

This is the current advice from experienced members of the forum at least...

If your sponsor doesn't have a job by the time of your interview or enough money in assets then they can't be your sponsor. Simple as that. Either way you would have to bring a new affidavit of support to the interview cause what was stated on the former one isn't up to date. And if your spouse doesn't meet the criteria then you need a joint sponsor. I wouldn't expect USCIS to change that policy.

Oh yeah.. I didn't think about that. We're leaving for Maine for work in 3 weeks (my EAD keeps getting pushed to the end of June now). However, I feel like everything will start to reopen soon and there're no interviews until June 3rd at least, so.. I think we'll be fine. 🤞
