You do understand that the Congress does not have oversight over the President right?  The House here is setting a precedent that will surely be used the next time any Democrat enters the White House.  I said it back when Mueller was appointed based on a presumptive (I.e. made up) narrative.  The next time we elect a President, we will have an automatic appointment of a special prosecutor.  It is really sad to see how the a Democrats have abused their Constitutional powers.

I am rapidly becoming an amateur congressional scholar and can field  softballs like this.

Congress has implied oversight that has been upheld by the Supreme Court many times.

How can they appropriate, enact laws, declare war, impeach and remove officials if they cannot get accurate information on what the executive branch was doing?

I believe the Senate "trial" will be over within minutes. Less than a day at most.

Personally, I think McConnell could decide to drag it out as it would throw a wrench in the campaigns of Warren, Sanders and the other Senators currently running for President.

Ummmmm, Congress DOES have oversight of the executive branch. Where are you reading this?

No, we are hiring movers. And yes, I think I'll be okay about the ring. It's not a big deal, and it probably will happen at some point -- he says it will, just give him some time. And if his sister changes her mind, I might have the other ring anyway.

Congress has oversight over the Executive Branch Departments, but they do not have oversight of the Presidency.  There is a difference.

You are going to have to prove that point.

Foreign relations. Does the President have to get approval of Congress to conduct foreign policy in their own style?  Executive Orders, can Congress, other than through legislation, stop an EO?

Hint: He didn't read it in Article 2.

Congressional oversight powers of the Executive Branch departments are not enumerated in the Constitution, they are implied.  The only power Congress has over the President is to impeach and try the President, VP, judge, etc.,  and the Founding Fathers made that a power that should be used sparingly.  Of course they can make up any reason, and focus group various terms, but one thing we are learning from the Schiff circus is that what the House is doing now is purely partisan TDS, and exactly what the Founding Fathers did not intend, but what the heck, let’s Impeach the usurper.

Travel back in time a little over 110 years ago, and recall that democrats were hanging radical Republicans right along with blacks, just because they didn't agree with their beliefs.  It is akin to what we are watching today, except without the shroud of privacy and mystery.

Good point, actually. The more they pretend to take it seriously, the more the American people will see what a farce it is.

Maybe. She isn't particularly happy with her boyfriend at the moment -- apparently she found out he was testing the waters with another woman to see if she was a better fit.

Sorry, I know this is off topic. 😕

Congress has the power to not only stop, but completely invalidate executive orders. If a President attempts to veto the invalidation, Congress may over-ride the veto with the two-thirds majority. The President is not above the law, and the Congress has oversight. He is not a god or king.
