Oh these sweet little snowflakes. Enjoy the circus while you can, after 2020 the Democratic party will be a husk of what it is now. Then we can finally get down to the real business of the people.

My understanding is that the impeachment process is written into the US Constitution. The "coup" language is inflammatory just as "lynching" and an interesting one I heard today "impeachment is regicide by another name". Because you have President's and not Kings, the language is doubly confusing.

Impeachment is an authority. Authority is required to be used responsibly.

Everything that's been done regarding Trump, from the start, overwhelmingly fabricated out of thin air, when not deliberately hyperbolized, starts from the premise of "get Trump". Responsible exercise of government is not for the use of removing elected officials a certain sect of the populace simply don't want there. That's what elections are for.

When people try and intimate that policy disagreements wind up being, in the most comically embellished circumstances, something to join in on an impeachment effort for, it's clear this is a coup. They are people who have power, unjustifiably I might add, the President is a threat to that power, so they want a President who will defer to them. Easy.

The dossier is what started the entire thing, and it was clear from all the evidence, that is still coming out to this day further solidifying that, it's to undermine the President, to get him removed, or to ruin him in an election. While the latter is not illegal on its face, using government authority as a smear PR campaign for the next election is about as corrupt as it gets, and seriously advocating, never mind trying to concoct, ways to remove the President, before he even takes office, is precisely what treason covers. Of course, people governed by simplistic utilitarian views will wonder why there's been no one prosecuted for this, and likely for the same reason no one was prosecuted for the Iraq War, nor a similar incident under FDR to what's going on now. Can't prosecute people if the people in charge of prosecution refuse to do it. Which tells you all you need to know about the level of corruption we're evidently willing to tolerate.

In this situation, they won't impeach Trump. It's a strategic ploy since 2016, and proven further since January 2019, aimed at gaslighting the left. They have no rational or legal basis for doing it, and in a political joke of impeachment, the Senate ruins all these witnesses, calls their own witnesses (now that Schiff doesn't control the investigation and hearings anymore), embarrasses the hell out of the House Dems, bureau people, these Ukraine witnesses, and ultimately doesn't impeach. Thus, they want to keep it comfortably in the arena where they can control a narrative, which is the House. I wonder where all the "intellectual" leftists are that apparently can't grasp the reasons why none of these efforts have produced results toward their end goal of "get rid of Trump". Looks like they're too busy on pins and needles for the next injection of their confirmation bias drug.

You're starting to sound like all the people on here who predicted McCain would trounce Obama back in 2008. I hope it end's better for you.

Unfortunately the Republicans did not understand or leverage social media in the way the Obama team did. The Obama campaign (I concede) was a well-oiled machine and managed to make Democrat lies seem palatable.

This time around the Democrat Party is just digging their own graves. The Trump campaign is very attuned to social media, but even if they weren't it wouldn't matter. Americans do not support this impeachment, and they will rally around Mr. Trump to ensure it doesn't happen again.

As @Bill & Katya said, the business of the people is surely not the three ring circus happening now.

Speaking of three ring circuses @laylalex... has yours arrived? Your ring I mean?

That's kind of a non-answer, Boris. "Whatever it is, it isn't this." Isn't it the business of the people to know whether there has been wrongdoing?

And as for my ring, no, I don't have it yet. I don't know if you know but we are leaving Berkeley for Santa Monica at the start of the year. Understandably we have been distracted by that and haven't had time. I looked at rings the other weekend but I didn't see one I liked. When we get the chance, after we're settled, I think. I mean, I'm probably okay if it never happens.

Can you imagine if the House actually sent this to the Senate and they subpoena Schiff as a factual witness?

You do understand that the Congress does not have oversight over the President right?  The House here is setting a precedent that will surely be used the next time any Democrat enters the White House.  I said it back when Mueller was appointed based on a presumptive (I.e. made up) narrative.  The next time we elect a President, we will have an automatic appointment of a special prosecutor.  It is really sad to see how the a Democrats have abused their Constitutional powers.

We already know there was no wrongdoing... at least not with Mr. Trump. But if you think the business of the people should be a full investigation of Hunter Biden and Joe Biden, I concede the point.

Ah yes, the big move that you were never consulted on. Will you be loading the furniture onto the truck yourself while he busies himself in the office?

In any case, it seems your fiance is ok if it never happens.

I believe the Senate "trial" will be over within minutes. Less than a day at most.

Ummmmm, Congress DOES have oversight of the executive branch. Where are you reading this?

No, we are hiring movers. And yes, I think I'll be okay about the ring. It's not a big deal, and it probably will happen at some point -- he says it will, just give him some time. And if his sister changes her mind, I might have the other ring anyway.
