Does anyone know where to get certified copies of documents in the US ? I can go to the local grocery store and get documents notarized but I've never done certified copies. Thanks.

What type of certified copies are you talking about? Your birth certificate? Generally if you go to the local court house and talk to the register of deeds, they can get you a certified copy of this.

You do not "make" certified copies. You obtain them. Depending on the document and your State and local jurisdiction, the procedures vary. Notarization is another animal altogether.

Many municipalities have their records online now and you can purchase certified copies of birth certificate or marriage certificate online, pay the fee and the country clerk will mail them too you. I can never find parking downtown so I just use the webpage, it usually only takes a week to get the forms.
