My situation: I have a green 2-year green card obtained through marriage. Filed I751 petition to remove conditions, and got a letter I797 extending validity for 18 months (late 2020 so not expiring anytime soon)

Just learned that I751 was APPROVED.

Question:

I need to travel internationally tomorrow for two weeks. Can I still enter the country with the Expired Green Card + (Unexpired) I797 Extension letter as usual? Even though as of the other day, the petition is no longer pending?

Yes you can. Just have your green card and extension letter to get back in. It's no issue.
Congratulations on the approval.

Cool. Thank you.

It scared me that the approval letter said "Do not travel outside the US until you received the new green card as you may encounter difficulties during re-entry."

My hunch was that this "may" related to the fact that if your I797 is expired and you have no I551 travel stamp, you'll have issues, but that i would be fine with my I797 not expiring for many months, but couldn't find this in any official USCIS document or guidance.

Now looking back seems others have asked this question before, so thanks again and sorry for the duplicate post.
