He's talking about the aunt joint sponsor. (I had the same misunderstanding earlier)  She falls short in salary by $1012. If she doesn't list her $5000 cash savings, she won't qualify as Joint sponsor.

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification.

Our joint sponsors income is ~$1,000 short, i understood from an earlier reply that providing the sponsor has 5x the shortfall in assets that would be ok.

We intend to submit the IR1 with current sponsor, she has provided me with her last 3 years tax returns and a completed i864. She has assets greater than $5,000 so i assume this will be ok?

Yes

The I-130 was submitted in 2018 and approved earlier this year.

I now only need to apply for the IR1 as far as I am aware. We both have accounts in the US and family in Florida, California, Colarado and New York. Our intention and as is stated on the original DCF filing, is that we will reside at a member of our families home in Miami.

My wife has a medical licence in Califaornia which we have repeatedly renewed whilst she is in the UK, and she intends to transfer to Florida on our arrival. She also has a driving licence though this expired as of 2 years ago, we believed we could revalidate again on arrival.

I will happily fly out beforehand and secure a tenancy on a property if this would help the process but had no intention until my passport is stamped. Would this be acceptable evidence of our intent to domicile?

I was concerned about finding a co-sponsor, which we have now hopefully resolved with the addition of the original sponsors assets. You guys now have me worried that at interview, our intent (depsite spending £1,000's and lots of time and effort) will be disregarded and we will not be allowed to return because my (US born) wife has lived outside of the US for 5 years.

You’re good.  A family member’s address and a US bank account will suffice.

We never arranged a lease until the visa was in the passport, and finalized our address at POE.  We were always successful at having everything pre-filled and ready to sign as soon as our plane landed.
Last year we booked a hotel for one night.  We dropped our bags at the hotel, held the driver, had him drop us at the car dealership, signed for the car, drove the car back to the hotel, and next morning drove over and signed the lease / moved in.  Everything ready and arranged from

overseas.

What is difficult is when the USC sells out, closes all the accounts, moves overseas, has no ties, and they tell the USC to establish ties before they can sponsor someone to move back to the US which separates them.  These pages are full of those stories.  Based on what you have described you should have no problem.  Best of luck to you and your family.

Someone please explain to me why after serving my government for 30 years of my adult life I need to justify anything to that same government with regards to bringing my foreign born spouse home to my country.  I was trusted to work on nuclear weapons for eight years and the remaining years spent flying all over the world leaving my now ex-wife and four children for whatever length of time I was told, to kill whoever was the enemy of the month.  My package is in the same stack as any other John Doe who hasn't given anything to the defense or protection of his/her country.  I understand active duty military receiving priority but retired, 100% disabled veterans being treated like "all the others" is frustrating.  If I have offended anyone, too damn bad.  Suck it up and walk it off.  I'm pissed.

Nobody’s petition is special. Everybody goes through the same process. Nobody’s relationship is more valued than somebody else’s relationship.

While I am thankful to you for your service, just because someone has not been in the military does not mean they haven't "given anything to the defense or protection of his/her country".   So, please don't assume things about "any other John Doe" or "all the others".  After all, one of the founding beliefs of our country is that "All men are created equal...".  Everyone must meet the requirements of the immigration laws.
