Received K1 visa with wrong date of birth

Hi everyone,

I hope someone might be able to give me some insight on this. I received my K1 visa yesterday and it has my birth year wrong by one year. All of my forms were filled out properly with my correct year of birth so I'm certain it's an error on their end. I have emailed the consulate asking how to get it fixed and am waiting on them to get back to me.

Does anyone know about how long it might take to get this sorted out? I was hoping to leave for the US in about two weeks, though I know that is probably not going to happen now. I can't stop worrying that this will cause a huge delaying in me joining my fiance in the states. Hoping someone might be able to put my mind at ease lol.

Thanks in advance!

It is a relatively minor thing, it should be an easy fix. This certainly isn't the first time this type of hiccup has been reported in the forum.

However, who knows the work schedule of your unknown embassy/consulate?  I was hoping to leave for the US in about two weeks, though I know that is probably not going to happen now. No need to be such a pessimist.  I can't stop worrying that this will cause a huge delaying in me joining my fiance in the states. Hoping someone might be able to put my mind at ease lol.

There was a recent posting of someone having to take the visa back to correct an error in the visa. They were able to get it corrected the same day. I believe that they mentioned the specific embassy/consulate.  However, you neglected to include that information and your timeline is vacant. :time:It helps everybody that uses or is helped by the forum.

Post back with the results of your likely small hiccup in your immigration journey. This is the first big step in your immigration journey, you have to learn to pace yourself, or you may not be able to finish your journey. 👍
