Then why are we seeing so much political push from CA toward the regressive Left?  The regulation from CA that is different and supposedly "better" than the rest of the country?  You may not be that type, but you have admitted to being a Leftist which appears to be the root of most of our political issues.  CA is in fact a beautiful state, particularly the South Eastern portions, but I for one would never take a job that would force me to live there since I enjoy freedom.  Btw, this is all my opinion, and perception which is my own.

I guess I put it to you this way: what if you flip the script? To many, seeing regressive acts like trying to introduce morality carveouts for medical professionals, just as one example, is odious. But this would have happened nationwide if not blocked by the courts. But in other parts of the country that seems commonsense. We benefit as a country from having a robust debate between contrasting principles. It's good, it's healthy.

I'm not a leftist, but I am a bit lefty. 😊 I'm socially liberal and a touch fiscally conservative. I might have been a Rockefeller Republican if I weren't waaaaay too young (pretty sure he was dead by the time I was born).

And I love what I've seen of the South -- beautiful country, friendly people, just not the place for ke, not just because what the humidity would do to my hair! Horses for courses, as my British friends say.

Then why do CA universities keep diverse voices quiet?

Not much humidity in Death Valley, your hair would be fine.

Sorry, I meant the Deep South, AL, MS, etc. Berkeley is challenging for my hair too -- one small mercy in moving home to SoCal.

There's a lot of sound and fury about voices being silenced, but many times there is more to the story than the pearl-clutching headlines out there. Sorry to half-post  and run but I need to get ready for work. I know what you're saying and I truly think this is ripe for discussion! I don't want to make it look like every decision made is perfect by colleges but when I've read deeper (and I try to read deeply when my "something's weird here" radar goes off) sometimes more lies beneath the surface.

To be continued!😊

You can always move to NC but keep those Democrat votes in the Triangle. What we are seeing is a lot of people moving from the NE doe to the COL and high taxes. They come here and usually love it overall. Some of them are voting like they did before and others aren't.

People want to talk about how there are more registered Dems in the state overall Republicans but totally leaving out Independents. That is why we had a voter id  amendment pass with over a 56% yes last year. It is because the Independents helped push it through

Always amused me how Californians get a bad rap in Colorado, Texans would be next on the list.

Anyone who can't drive in a quarter inch of snow get's a bad rap in Colorado. I think Californians and Texans get it equally. It goes away once they learn to stop driving 5 miles an hour and take up 2 lanes all winter.

When driving I70 from the Utah border, I saw at least one pot shop at every exit for about 100 miles.

You must be talking about Michigan drivers at the first snowfall of the season.

There must be a lot of consumers, I just wonder how there is enough business for all of them especially when the undocumented sector seems still around and thriving.

No doubt!  South of Kentucky any white stuff on the ground leads to mass chaos.
