I don't think CFA has ever pretended to support the LGBTQ crowd in any way, but yes, corporate profits rule.

The morals of the founders have prevented them from working on Sundays and not supporting the above crowd.  Not that they are supporting them by changing their contributions, it does certainly appear that the change comes due to pressure from thence.  Which, IMO, it shouldn't have.

I also don't think bakers should be forced to ale cakes against their religious views.  But that's me.

I'm glad you're not falling for their gaslighting attempts.. they're poor and transparent.

This isn't about maximizing shareholder value or "getting with the times".

The LGBTQIADFJASDFSDGGF groups aren't really the CFA demographics/psychographics. I'm not even a Christian yet this is as clear as day. CFA = Private Christian company. Christianity believes homosexuality is a sin. And while CFA doesn't utilize sexuality as determinants of who they serve (for obvious logical and legal reasons), listening to groups that advocate for homosexuality and views that violate their beliefs doesn't square the "Christian" circle. They are a differentiated brand.

What this is, is intellectual dishonesty, hence the gaslighting attempts.

In reality, what they really mean by their arguments winds up being "rules for thee and not for me". It's the sort of inverted thought process that have permeated the political left, and precisely why anyone with an ounce of self-respect, or a spine, doesn't capitulate to this.

When they talk about "maximizing shareholder value" or the "free market", they almost always mean coercive behavior to force people to give them what they want, regardless of whether or not they're a customer. It's not about people making free choices that they may disagree with. Their "free market" arguments always follow someone giving them their way. When CFA didn't give them their way, it was "bigoted". They formulate lists to harass sponsors of people they politically disagree with, while calling it the "free market" when they successfully harass those people enough to give them their way. What you don't see them doing is demanding Ben and Jerry's and other companies that overtly side with them to be more inclusive of those they disagree with.

When they talk about "getting with the times", again, the same thing. Applicable only to others. They believe "the times" favors their political viewpoints, thus, use this language. On political issues they disagree with, like say, guns, you can't "get with the times", and use modernized rifles like AR-15's, nope, only muskets are relevant. If you want to "get with the times" in the way they want, you simply implement gun control.. conveniently, "the times" sides with them at roughly a 100% rate.

What's disturbing to me is that companies have basically gone back to this "morals" nonsense, but rather than morals of grounded and logical principles to be widely respected, the morals we see are alienating, divisive, attacking, and often conveniently aim in one single direction. They're siding with people who are fundamentally trying to take a wrecking ball to western civilization for no other reason than because they want their way 100% of the time rather than the 99% they're normally accustomed to.

I agree their new focus is good.  And they already made good on their previous donation promises.

What I feel is a mistake is WHY they pulled the donations.  They should have just ignored the pressure IMO.

Did chick fil a actually say why they were doing it ?

“There’s no question we know that, as we go into new markets, we need to be clear about who we are,” Chick-fil-A President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Tassopoulos said in an interview with Bisnow. “There are lots of articles and newscasts about Chick-fil-A, and we thought we needed to be clear about our message.”

...

Looking ahead, Chick-fil-A leaders told Bisnow the mission of the company is to serve all members of its many communities. But the company also recognizes that changes are needed, especially if some communities don’t want to see a Chick-fil-A sign go up in their backyard.  “When there is a tension, we want to make sure we’re being clear. We think this is going to be helpful,” Tassopoulos said. “It’s just the right thing to do: to be clear, caring and supportive, and do it in the community.”

This was the article I read yesterday about it.

Because divisiveness isn't their strategy, they won't blame the culprits, rather, utilizing a positive forward PR strategy talking about the positive things they're doing now and in the future rather than the past, but it directly followed persistent harassment campaigns by LGBT (plus whatever other letters) groups, which we've seen happen time and time again, particularly on social media, when companies decide to end partnerships following harassment campaigns. And comically, each time, the standard response is "free market".

About to be? I did already! :D

Can we talk about makeup now? I even have an on-topic themed tutorial:

Well at least you waited until page 2  to do the off topic thing. Kudos no mention of Alex or the EX in 2 pages.

I am a full on supporter of gay rights.  I also support Chik fila right to have their beliefs as long as there is no discrimination in the work place.

I suspect more is coming , now that the old man continues to be dead for a longer period of time.

I also suspect as they slip from what makes them unique,  it will hurt them.

I remember the dawn of walmart in the early 80s. Prided them self on customer service.  Not so much now huh

That video is ON topic, thank you very much! As much or even more so than threads where it's essentially gun pr0n for page after page when there's only some tangential connection to guns.
