I thought someone asked you if you felt the same way about requiring Pelosi to release her tax returns since you seem to demand the release of Trump's tax returns, I thought you didn't clearly say that she should, but then seemed to justify what you imagined would be on her tax returns and why her value is quite high.

 

But please accept my apology, after watching a week of the Democrat congressional impeachment inquiry, I have found myself inferring a lot of stuff with no actual evidence. Again, I'm sorry.

The only distinction that's relevant in this mess is tax returns aren't material to the qualifications of being President, which are spelled out in the Constitution. It is not a requirement to disclose arbitrary amounts of one's personal life or legally protected/private information unless it directly relates to the actual qualifications of being President and if one has probable cause to suspect one of those qualifications are breached.

  I have never wanted to see them nor do I care, but Trump did say he would release them if he was elected. IMO, he has invited the situation. He should have just said it's nobody's business and he would never release them. He would have still got elected and no one would have grounds to call him on the issue.

 

   Just to get back to topic though, there is a big difference between the public wanting to see them for personal interest, and congress requiring them for legal reasons. If a member of the public had an issue about seeing returns, that was something that required a decision before the election, and there is really no point rehashing it now. If congress requires them as as of an investigation, that is a whole different issue.

He also said Mexico will pay for the wall. 

 

I believe Trump intended to release them, but given the way people have used government against him, he's guarding himself, and he's right to.. he has no choice. This information stands to be used against him in a similar abusive fashion. Just like he intended for Mexico to pay for the wall, but he was not only blocked by Congress repeatedly, but endlessly sued in courts, it's not happening the way he envisioned it would, so people naturally adapt to the reality they're presented with, rather than put themselves in bad positions. Rationally, one should be able to see why that statement was not fulfilled, and it not being from an empty promise that was simply abandoned for no reason.

Let's just face reality....Democrats (particularly the more left-leaning ones) do not care about anything but getting power back. I honestly think that once Obama was elected President they (and when I say they, I specifically think of Harry Reid) would never again have to worry about a Republican contender, after all Obama was like the second coming. Now, it would be refreshing for one of those Democrats to just come out and say honestly:

We don't care what law we have to make or break to get Donald Trump out of office. That's truly all they want.

Instead, they try to present themselves as stalwarts of the US Constitution-which, ironically,  most of the time they seem to find a pesky obstruction to implementing their liberal policies. Just be real....

I don't believe one word out of his mouth.

What personal fears keep Trump faithful addicted to his drug elixir of lies, false promises, Kulturkampf and demonization of domestic challengers?

 

 

 

 

Undoubtedly it comes down to the rapid (relatively) cultural shift that is occurring in society: LGBTQ rights, surge of immigration, much triggered by US Foreign policy and global warming and the  growth of non European populations as a percentage .   Nafta, opiates, increased incarceration in a privatized prison industry, automation and the sunsetting of many traditional industries have taken a toll on the working class, of all backgrounds.

 

This is fueling a backlash that makes these people strive for something that will help them hold on to their way of life, even when that contradicts what they know to be the truth, and embrace Trump and his falsehoods.

 

Should we be surprised? Trump told us who he was when running for president.  " you knew I was a snake, when you took me in"
