You are still not understanding what I am saying. Converting AFTER the marriage does not work for USEM. But hey, knock yourself out. Good luck with this one.

Here is the experience that I'm aware of. She was Christian BEFORE being married and then after marriage converted to Muslim. According to what you know, correct me if I am wrong, and what I know is that USEM looks on Shari divorces with the eye that they must have been muslim before entering into marriage to qualify for a true divorce in the eyes of USEM. Otherwise, it's a scam and that's how they view it. Just my observation. I await confirmation from the OP when she completes her interview. I am open to learn more about this process. I can only go on what we did and what the embassy has in the past used as their yardstick.

The marriage was muslim/sharia ... that is the requirement for the sharia divorce to be accepted by the embassy.

What the various religions require to get married under their rules is a different issue and not an embassy issue

So your saying she is gong to be fine because she is a Muslim now and then divorced as a Muslim. I disagree but I'm open to the outcome of her interview. This is an interesting argument :)

No I am saying she was married under sharia law .... and those marriage are the only ones that can use the sharia divorce.   It was not a catholic or protestant wedding, it was a muslim wedding.

She was married in the muslim faith = divorce by sharia law.    <  this is what I keep saying

Not married under muslim law - no sharia divorce.

Not married under muslim law - no sharia divorce.

The means test for the embassy - did she CONVERT BEFORE the marriage in the Muslim faith then she is eligible for a visa with a Sharia law divorce. It makes a world of difference.

The scam some are using is just going to a Sharia court, pay off the judge, the judge grants the Sharia divorce. Applicant has it run up the latter and brings back a annotated marriage certificate.

But let's see what happens in her case.

Yes the scam was for those not married under sharia law trying to sidestep the system ...   I think we are all aware of this, but that is not the case here.

To me, you are mixing apples and oranges.

The apples-  Some religions require you "be a member" to get married within their faith, what you are calling "converting".  If you don't do that they won't allow you to be married within their faith.      << this is what you appear to be fixating on.

The oranges - the embassy requires evidence (documents) of being married by sharia law to be allowed to use sharia divorce  .. she has this ..  her wedding was a muslim wedding.

This person DID get married within the muslim faith, under Sharia law according to her earlier posting.
