United State Immigration Services controls our lives at the moment so naturally, I want to gripe about it and drag you down with me... seems only fair.

Feel free to post your own anger about immigration

USCIS

In a mound of paperwork, my life has swam

All for you... the red tape man.

And yet there is no guarentee...

that success will soon meet up with me.

I fill in the lines with black colored ink.

With each blank space, I take the time to think.

I turn the page to the other side...

More information, there'll be nothing to hide.

And as I pour through your wants and needs

I can't help thinking of what it all means...

What is your birthday? Do you own a car?

Do you have any tatoos? Do you have any scars?

Do you know anyone? Who, why, where and how?

What is your bloodtype? Do you pluck your eyebrows?

How many times did you cough last year?

Do you have any wishes? Do you have any fears?

How do you know him? How does he know you?

What is his pants size? What color are his shoes?

Do you know his favorite animal? Does he even know yours?

How many splinters are on the wood of his front door?

Tell me your story.. no wait, tell me twice.

Do you have any diseases? Have you ever had lice?

You are not done, I have more to ask...

Where do you live? Who takes out your trash?

Have you even been bitten or stung by a bee?

If so, write it down in detail for me...

It's very important, these are things I must know

Are there times you've been high? Are there times you've been low?

Let me ask you more, I am not even close to being done.

Have you ever been sad? Do you ever have fun?

How many times do you brush your hair in a day?

Do you have any friends? Are you religious? Do you pray?

And on and on and on it goes...

I call and ask him what information he knows

"I don't know, just tell them the truth...

That you love me and that I love you."

as the laws, they change.

It does not have to rhyme.. it can be anything! Poetic expression comes in all forms.

USCIS

Lost in what I cannot change

Like the forceful wind that tears me away

I wonder like a leaf floating in the breeze

hoping I shall fall upon the ground soon

I wrote this last July:

PAPER SEA

Like a princess yet to be rescued

with hair that won't grow fast enough

in a tower too high--

Her prince waits below…

the only light she sees.

She breathes him and

he feels her and

they survive another day.

He has saved her already,

despite the distance...

Now...

there are papers

and procedures

and they are adrift

-- perhaps even lost --

on this tumultuous and

seemingly infinite

sea of bureaucracy---

the residual of those who came before

and their careless deceits.

The Genuine are nothing more

than anonymous 'case numbers';

The lovers, husbands, wives,

hopes, and smiles...

Mixed thoughtlessly amongst

those less than sincere.

Still,

there is no promise of reparation

for these days

needlessly, senselessly deprived

of touch or kiss or breakfast in bed.

When every hour forced apart

Is one more hour r i p p i n g their hearts.

Look into the soul of this case number--

See the face of anonymity…

of desperation and perseverance--

And JUSTIFY THIS ----

Provide some purpose or hint of reason

for endless nights of tear-soaked pillows.

Thank you for sharing that, I think that pain emotion turn into the most wonderful art! Beautiful, sad, happy, etc... it is all the most wonderful art when it can be formed into words.

Years ago there was the 'Ode to Nina'.,,,was it junglee that wrote that? Maybe someone can dig deep into archives for it. It was written for an NVC operator, the one with the sweet voice.

Well...we're actually done with interviewing, for a while, at least. All we have left is removing conditions.
