Sorry, since he name-dropped me I thought I'd at least respond to his still-silly and unfounded ideas about this website, which are somehow tied to the fact his browsing history allows him to see targeted ads of a specific interest that has little to do with this site or any of the posters here which were being slandered. But this is just one of many subjects he should let go and backhoe.

Having just spoken with a member of our IT staff... Targeted ads are setup by the website owner to appeal to their target audience.

 

So if, for example, a fairly good size of your website were men who paid fees to websites for access to foreign women interested in marriage, then you would subscribe to those ads, and they would display on your website.

Thank you for this explanation. It explains why I also saw Farmers Only ads and more troublingly the Ashley Madison ads, which caused me no end of grief in conversations with my fiance.

You can justify it however you must, but both are stealing. If you steal a car because the owner wasn't using it, it is still theft. I'm sorry dear, but you are a thief.

They do have quite a catchy tv jingle, I can see the intense appeal. Me I'm personally enjoying seeing St. George's University Medical School of the West Indies, Leatherman Knives, a class action lawsuit against wind farms, charities for kids, oh and the Hilton.

 

I'm sure the F150 truck ad will come along soon enough.

Well first, I am no longer using it. And second, if he had wanted to terminate my access, he should have told me I couldn't use it.

No, I don't think he usually has ads unblocked. Also, I don't monitor his internet usage. Sometimes I see what he's looking at when we're on our laptops together, but I can't recall seeing many ads unless he has to unblock to read an article or something. Usually it's ads for Executive MBA programs from what I can recall, occasionally car ads. Nothing I would object to. But when that Ashley Madison ad came up, I did ask him why it might have appeared. He didn't have an explanation for me that was quite as clear as the one you just gave me, Boris. I'm less worried now that he's looking to get a little on the side.

It seems he monitors yours though.

 

IT are on the floor upgrading some of the monitors. I will ask them more about the ads. I wonder if the frequency of the ads depend on if you have clicked on them or not?
