Also to suggest we somehow bought our wives is absurd. I dated a chick an hour away. It cost money to go see here. It cost money to date. It cost money to visit my current wife, just a good bit more. Her entire family are PHDs and architects, she has a 4 year degree. Our plans is to move back to the Pitcarin Islands as soon as financially feasible to do so .

 

Almost 40% of married couples meet online , I dont see the big deal or why Boris would suggest it needs to be some secret. I also had no problem meeting chicks here.I guarantee you, my spreadsheet is quite impressive. Me deciding to go the route I went had nothing to do with sex, I assure you

My thought is no, since in Site Related my thread highlighting the Ashley Madison ad and which had some other questionable ones in it was removed because the ads were not family friendly.

There is a lot of misinformation floating around in this thread about digital ads, browsing history and "targeted ads" 

The display position and frequency is controlled by the hosting site, visa journey. I think the ads are excessive and detract, but it's my choice to come here or not. Everyone needs to make a living and I know the steak dinners and Las Vegas trips they bestow upon the Moderators drives a budgetary need /s

Your browser, device type, Geo location, whether you have turned on and personalization and cookies from your browsing history will impact what ads you see. I have personalization turned off with Google, hence other factors weight 

 

Additionaly Google Ads (and I assume others) look at the text on the page, index the words, links, language, pages structure as possibly other factors. This is one of the more powerful tools Google and Bing have in their "secret sauce".

 

Therefore, the words on the page do influence the ad choices and Visa Journey has little control. If the title of the thread has romance, dating and the content has words like Fiance, Mail Order, Tinder and Ex husband...then we will all be targeted (potentially).

 

And no I am not in the Market for a farmer, but I do live in a splendid agriculture area.

I meant in my local geographic area. By the time I stumbled in here I was already sorta engaged.  I started in the Philippines regional forum, and kept getting suspended for foolishness. Then I came to chest and kept getting suspended for foolishness.

 

Then I started my legendary really great Acronym and Mod sensitivity training. Its been all good since

As a person who used to be behind the scenes in forums, it gave me giggles the day I pointed out to the boss (a very devout sort) that his forum had been displaying ''naughty'' ads for weeks or the time some ads were installing malicious content on user's computers.  The truth is very rarely are ads being directly chosen by anyone here, though I suppose we could ask the boss himself, right?

 

Doubtful Ewok is saying, ''hey let's show a poster their deep seated psychological need to go on a gay cruise'', but there are a lot of complex analytics at work - some that get surprisingly wrong and right for each poster, and can be based on tons of factors about this site and any site or any previous ad on a site the poster has come in contact with. Perhaps ALFKAD at some point was thinking of going on a cruise, or perhaps at some point he bought travel tickets or used a travel site or explored travel options, perhaps he visited somewhere that was a partner of Atlantis, Carnival, or Royal Caribbean, or stayed at a hotel that was a partner.

 

Or a million other reasons as 90Day has correctly described.

 

The majority of ads I see on here do not apply to me actually.

I just unblocked and have ads now for incredibly tacky women's tunics.  Also for a quiz testing my knowledge of 60s and 70s TV shows -- um, I'm probably going to flunk that one.
