Hi everyone,

I will be filing for adjustment of status and my field office is Seattle/Tukwila (joy!) This office is notorious for over a year-long wait just to get an interview. I just wanted to hear from those who have filed AOS in the last couple of months in Seattle - has your case been transferred somewhere else to help cut the backlog? Have you received an interview faster than the average time?

I am hoping we have an anomaly and either get transferred and/or have a faster timeline, but just looking for some recent experiences here.

Thanks!

In retrospect, a CR-1 may have been a better choice, although I know we are quite lucky in being ahead of the game in almost every area except for the actual green card (our local field office has one of the longest wait times in the country).

I wonder if we can use a different office as long as in Washington?

Applicants can't request a different LFO. It's 100% USCIS decision on whether or not to send it to a different office for caseload purposes: https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-aims-decrease-processing-times-n-400-and-i-485

No.  You don't choose your LFO.  It is assigned based upon zip code.  And last time I looked at the USCIS processing times for Spokane, Yakima and Portland, the wait times were similar.

If you think about it, would that be fair to those who have been waiting in line for a year or more already?

You can't choose your LFO. You can move...although that's pretty extreme + transfer time. 😆

Exactly.  I will say that we were very lucky that my husband received his combo card within just over 4 months.  I wondered if maybe those are processed a bit faster for those who reside in the longest LFO regions:  Seattle, SF, Houston, Dallas etc.

I sure hope so ... LFO is Yakima 11-25 months 😳 .. so actually considering going home and doing CR1 instead of AOS

Really?  Won’t getting the combo card suffice until you can get an interview?

Not sure I can wait another 4+ months to go home. I knew I wasn't gonna like living here but thought I could handle it until I got AP and then go home 2-4 times a year for a month or so and it was never meant to be forever just until hubby can get his retirement. It just turned out to be much harder than I imagined 😳

I get it.  Do you have to live in the Tri-Cities?
